"A House"
Picture a house.
Picture all the things in that house.
The hard-wood floors,
The carpets and chairs,
The drapes and doors,
Even stairs.

Now picture the people in it.
Mom, Dad, Brother, and Sister.
Did they pick your or did you pick them?

It doesn't matter who picked who,
These people in the house were meant for you.
And I hate when the house seems to disagree,
And the walls are yelling back at me.

I don't know about the other houses,
But I do know about what's in mine.
These people inside my quiet house,
I love them all the time.

I don't know about other people,
But I know about what's in me.
I handpicked every single soul that lives in this house with me.

Sometimes our thoughts can get kind of sloppy and Mom has to mop them off the floor.
Sometimes we throw our patience away on our way out the kitchen door.
But all the time, not just sometimes,
I finish every night,
Soaking all my thoughts in my gray walls,
Where white and black meet and dance down the halls.

One: Mississippi.
Two: Time is ticking.
Three: Feeling stronger.
Four: Getting longer.
Five: It's just a ride.
Six: Don't fear the tide.
Seven: Getting heavy.
Eight: Mind is steady.
Nine: This time must end.
Ten: Begin again.

"Just Like A Tambourine"
I hate when hearts break.
That moment when something is said or done and from it you literally feel your heart and it just doesn't feel the same.
Just like a tambourine hitting the floor, reflecting the way you love with no bounds,
That ecstacy of emotional perfection has a mirrored emotion.
Just like a tambourine hitting the floor, a loud crash,
so does the beat of your heart when it's been broken into pieces.
Falling to the ground,
Capillaries, blood vessels, muscle tissue, all of it breaking because the impact is just too much.
Similair to a hand or leg, a heart takes time to heal after it's been broken.

It breaks, you panic, and you rush to the doctor.
He takes a look at the damage and says,
"Hmm, mam. I'm afriad this is a disaster. A beautiful disaster. Little did you know, this heart break saved your life. Because the exact moment your heart stopped pumping blood, it began pulsating something deeper. People everywhere felt your heart crash just like a tambourine hit the ground and transferred a beautiful healing matter to pulsate through your insides. You're coming back to life. Full, vivid, crazy, adventurous, beating, brilliant life and it's falling down all around you in a loud beautiful sound, just like a tambourine hits the ground."

I'm convinced God is a girl.
It's only logical.
Who else would use pink, fluffy clouds to cover up one's image?

I'm convinced the world's turned upside down.
It's only logical.
I learned a thing or two about gravity,
But I'm staring at a pool.
If the world were right side up we'd have called it a rain cloud!

I'm convinced people mean well.
It's only logical.
Why else would we be given this world, this planet, this beautiful place?

I'm convinced time, contrary to belief, is irrelevant here.
It's only logical.
Why else would we reply with "God only knows?"
My pocket watch can't tell me something like that!

I'm convinced we have a purpose, all of us of importance.
It's only logical.
Because we come and go like a flickering flame,
But the fervent fire burns brighter and brighter with each additional glow.

"Atlas"
Cosmic stars up in the sky,
Waiting for when the time is right.
Stardust and moonlight in a jar,
I can't wait to find out who you are.

When we meet I'll hold you forever.
You'll be just what I've always dreamed.
Exploring the world,
With maps in our pockets,
Atlas, come and locate me.

"Sunflower Eyes"
Seeds, water, sunshine,
Sunflowers,
In your eyes.

Let them grow,
Let them grow,
A story is desperate to be told.

Once I was a flower too,
Sunflowers,
In my eyes,

But now I'm here to look after you,
Let you grow,
Let you grow,
A story is desperate to be told.

"Here We Are"
And once upon a time,
She was happy,
& she lived forever after.

And once,
She laughed so much,
She ran out,
& needed to buy some more.

And then another time,
She swung,
So high,
She swore that she could fly.

But once upon a time,
She didn't know her story line,
So she did the things she adored,
& nothing more.

"Pear"
So many eyes,
Binding vision and memory into one.
Laser guns,
Breaking only through the surface of the flesh that surrounds you.

I swear if you could be seen somewhere besides the light,
I'd see so much more than what the light reveals.
To me, every inch is a story,
Shiny smiles try to steal.

"Wonderland"
Follow the rabbit,
He knows the way,
Climb down, fall down, whichever you may.

Hurry,
Catch up,
Don't fall behind.
His watch is ticking,
What next will we find?

Stardust in my pocket,
To remember you by.

Sipping' tea,
Pinky up,
Fall into the magic cup.

But months go by,
I finally return,
My world's turned to stone,
And my memories have burned.

"Walking Backwards"
I fell in love again today,
Or could it be I remembered?

I don't mind where we are,
I don't mind where we are.

Indestructable?
But, no.
I'm broken shards of glass.
Pick me up and put me on a shelf to be admired by your friends.

Soon, I'll walk backwards.
Find my younger self,
Side pony-tail, jet-black nails, too much mascara,
I'll tell her, "Hey girl, he's here to stay."

Just let me find myself first,
Let me find myself.

"If You're Wondering"
If you're wondering why I wake up every morning with a twinkle in my eye,
It's the sun knocking at my window.

If you're wondering why I walk fluidly, like I know where I'm going,
I don't know, but it's the air that carries me.

If you're wondering why I look as if I'm confused or not reallly there,
It's those dreams in the daytime, as if I'm in a different world.

And if you're wondering why I smile at you like I do,
It's probably because I love you.

"Dear,"
If you're wondering about the Sun,
He shines just for you.

If you're wondering about God,
He wonders about you too.

If you're wondering about the earth,
She turns with you in mind.

If you're wondering about the wind,
She's awfully hard to find.

If you're wondering about the ocean,
It's the prettiest shades of blue.

And if you're wondering why I wrote this,
I wrote it just for you.

"Tall Oak Tree"
Once there was a tall, oak tree.
I swear it was taller than me.
I climbed it up and stretched my limbs.
And it stretched its to copy me.

After a while of watching the breeze,
I sneezed such awful sneeze.
Without a moment to consult with the tree,
My sneeze turned into a breeze and away went me.

I landed in a shiny city,
But knew I couldn't stay.
I walked back to the tall, oak tree,
And climbed it so I could fly away.

"Sticky Glue"
I think I'd like to sing a song,
But the tune would just come out all wrong.
I think I'd like to grow a tree,
But soon it'd be bigger than me.
I think I'd like to think a thought,
But teachers teach for thoughts to be taught.
I think I'd like to start a fire,
But it'd just get higher and higher.
I think I'd like to write a poem,
Of all I'd like to do.
But then it'd be stuck, in ink you see.
And there'd be no way to set them free.

"Spirited"
I'm am starting to sense your location.
Floating, fuzzy,
blue and white.
We don't talk.
We acknowledge.

Buzzing, ringing, tones,
None of these messages speak to you.

Unwrap me like a gift,
A gift that's precious within its own time.
A gift, challenging each days events and the years and lifetimes.

Put me on a shelf, I'll be your communicator.
I'll take your calls,
Write it down word for word.

Just don't give up on me yet.

There's something happening here,
Children, women, disappear.
Close your heart, cover your eyes,
Take it to the battle side.

What's the story, Mourning Glory?
Are  dreams meant to be this gory?

Voices muffled in the streets,
Chains constrain our moving feet.

Mourning Glory,
Stiffen that lip,
Pull it together,
Make it quick.

Mourning Glory,
Where do you fight?
Surely not the battle site.

Is your anguish written down?
Recorded with a ****** frown?
Fighting for a perfect world,
Something needs to save you, girl.

"Just Say So"
Fold my hands,
Pray this time He understands.
Send down a sign to cross the line.

Write proposals, deadlines,
Maybe this will change their minds?

Flickering channels, in and out.
Maybe this will cure the drought?

Heavy blows to the head, turn the other cheek.
Days of struggle,
Nights ahead,
Who's the player of the week?

If you're destined to go no where you're on the right track.
If blood and tears aren't for you, you better find your way back.

I may pretend to feel okay, but I want to break.
I will break.
We will break.

"Where Are We?"
Slowly fading in the sand,
Distant dreams, distant land.
Where are we?

Sweaty faces being fanned,
Trace the road maps on your hand.
Where are we?

Look for signs on the floor,
Scratch your head and look some more.
Where are we?

Talk to the man who put you here,
Rain washes till it's clear.
Where are we?

Bust the windows of your mind,
Notes unfold throughout time.
Where are we?

"Someone Saved My Life"
Someone saved my life tonight.
I didn't faulter, didn't fight.
The room inside was cold and damp.
Illuminated by the lamp.

Someone saved my life tonight.
The aura was blinded bright.
He took me in with open arms.
Hands of his blocked the swarms.

Someone, yes.
He saved my life.
Days were added to the night.

"See-Saw"
The mind is our mystery, but full knowledge is there.
The aching in the world leaves my soul impaired.
I walk through the mist of my unforgetable past.
The people I love are moving too fast.
They're leaving me quickly, but life goes on.
One day they're here, the next day they're gone.
Life is ageless, but age grows upon.

"My Breath Tastes Ancient"
My breath tastes ancient.
I don't know why.
It just does.
And I know I cry a lot of times,
But they aren't always happy or sad reasons.
Sometimes I just have too many thoughts and I have to let some go.
Sometimes I wipe my tears to soak my thoughts back up.
Sometimes I let someone else soak in my thoughts.
Sometimes I just let them fall,
And that's nice too,
Because I become a part of what's around me more so than before.
And today I was thinking about how nice it would be for the world to get together one day,
Like to barbeque out side on a sweltering hot day in July.
All of us, together.
How neat that would be!
And then I thought about what it's like to be a star looking down from really high up in the sky.
And if I were a star one day looking down from high up in the sky,
I'd probably wonder why everyone wasn't all together barbequing.

"Sores"
Life,
The four letter word that breeds new possibility with every escape of the mouth.
The illusion of created matter fluttering which ever way,
Taking the shapes of new forms but impossibly diceitful if it's all the same to you, really.

Life,
Oh, is that what you call it?
The birthing canal, the test-drive, the labryinth.
The uncurable dicease, like bleeding sores after entering a forest you probably should have avoided.
Those sores, those sores, those uncurable sores!
I'm covered in sores and you folks call this life.
Scratching the surface only makes it worse.
Diving in deep, the depths,
Black and blue because the insides are bruised, too, is the only way out.

Last night, or maybe last year, or maybe a past life,
If it's all the same to you, really,
I froze in fear like the look on a fishes scaly, wet face when he realizes what's to come of him and this hook in his mouth.
My immediate reaction was to vacate immediately.
But what do I fear? What am I trying to vacate?
Oh, right,
It's only me.
