There's a rivalry between two high schools
That's been around since 1989:
Cullview Memorial School and Preston High.
I went to Preston, and the hate for Cullview was real.

He came to Preston from Cullview.
His girlfriend stayed at Cullview.
We would always compare them to Romeo and Juliet,
A romance forbidden by the law code of adolescent teenagers

My friend, though she knew it was futile, developed feelings for him.
We met through her.
He was nice enough, and had gorgeous eyes.
He was an amazing friend.
One day, he saw me crying, and stayed with me until I felt better.

That's the day I broke every girl code there was.
I started to love him.

I knew it was wrong, but I couldn't stop. I'd go out of my way to bump into him. I'd pretend to need help on homework just to be with him for a while. I thought it would help just to be around him, but it only made me fall deeper.

What is it called when he's your Romeo, but you're not his Juliet?

Hell. That's what it's called.

Yes, I love him.

Yes, I know he's too good for me.
Yes, I know he will never love me.
Yes, I know I'm grasping at nothing but smoke and dreams.

And yes, I love him all the same.

I am from grain and steel,
from welding and nurturing.

I'm from the taste of metal,
the sounds of the birds,
the touch of the wind,
the sight of fall's first harvest.
I am from the smell of fire and corn.

From learning to weld,
from learning to plant.
From learning to love,
From learning to cope.

I'm from flying planes,
from flying sparks,
from flying angels,
from flying kites.

I'm from the cotton in your jeans,
from the corn in your freezer.
I'm from the iron in your stove,
from the steel in your car.

The place where cotton meets man
and man meets metal
and metal turns around and meets with cotton
is where I'm from.
