Caged Canary

How happy are you in your

Golden gilded cage?

Is that happiness? I wonder,

A sweet serene melody,

Touching many a saddened heart,

The little golden door,

Left ajar to help you make your choice,

Yet freedom cannot offer you,

Love and caring and warmth

Perfect ambience that radiates around your cage,

You sing when solitude surrounds you,

You shiver when you wish for more warmth

Moments you wish for a partner.

Your gilded cage has a place for none,

Freedom is out there, love is within,

Fleeting happiness is out there, safety within,

Reach out for a moment, or stay back forever,

Reach out for one hand, or stay back for a handful.
How happy are you in your
Golden gilded cage?
Is that happiness? I wonder,
A sweet serene melody,
Touching many a saddened heart,
The little golden door,
Left ajar to help you make your choice,
Yet freedom cannot offer you,
Love and caring and warmth
Perfect ambience that radiates around your cage,
You sing when solitude surrounds you,
You shiver when you wish for more warmth
Moments you wish for a partner.
Your gilded cage has a place for none,
Freedom is out there, love is within,
Fleeting happiness is out there, safety within,
Reach out for a moment, or stay back forever,
Reach out for one hand, or stay back for a handful.
I shall build a small cottage
In the lap of the Hills
And plant a million flowers all over,
Venus in my garden shall beckon all lovers
Cupid will guard the gates
And with all my chores done
I shall sit and wait
For Cupid to cry out
There she comes.
It’s  good life yonder
A misty world, swirling, silent cold mist
Creeping on you so silently, taking you in its embrace,
A cold cuddle you may call it,
I feel safe, protected against the cracked , dry, drooling faces,
Of the real world.
I live as I may, I laugh and cry and scream and stifle my voice,
On my own free will,
I love and I hate , I smile and I snarl
On my own free will.
This is my land, my own land, my fantasy land.
Just you and me,
Just you so full of me,
Just me so full of you,
Just Love so full of us.
Caught in quicksand,
Someone lend me a hand,
Let me live in the sickening world above
Or be swallowed up in the soft, warm comforts
of the slimy swamp.
He still walked the streets, one score and a decade later,
A little bent, wee bit wizened, graying at the temples,
Straining at his pushcart, a raised finger as a gesture,
Love for sale, no charge, unlimited shelf life,
Come one, come all, there is enough for everyone,
HE carried the Cross, Sins, greed and mistrust,
I give it free, the burden of love, take it free and give it free,
And when my pushcart is empty, crucify me,
Not on a cross, not in the middle of a desert,
Or with a spear through my heart,
But glued to a mound of flesh and blood,
Of human beings, rotting and stinking with hate,
Of human beings who refused my free offer of love.
