The Kiss
Martin Trahbeg Apr 2013
LIPS MEET, SO SIMPLE, SO POIGNANT
SMALL EFFORT FOR HUGE REWARD
GIVEN FREELY AND WITH FEELING
LEAVES EMOTIONS DIZZY, REELING

A MESSAGE SENT
A LOVERS SIGNATURE
A TENDER MOMENT
A BOND FOR THE FUTURE

A STEPPING STONE, LAID WITH CARE
MAKES A PATH, A STAIR WORTH THE CLIMB
A TRAIL FOR A PAIR
GETS CLEARER IN TIME
IT’S INTENT LEAVES NO CONFUSION,
IT’S PURPOSE CLEAR, CREATING LOVES FUSION

Paint on my Heart
Martin Trahbeg Apr 2012
She’s the product of some artist, full of joy right from birth,
The loveliest of all smiling creatures, put here on earth.
A stunning angel came to love me, the canvas on my heart she fills,
I gaze at her works with amazement, and it gives me chills.
My mind has a full gallery of her, the palette vibrant and bold.
I’m the one chosen to record her spirit, given a treasure to hold.
Masterpieces of life and love, I’m filled with awe and ardor
I collect her works; a private collection, not for sale or barter.

Love’s Breath
Martin Trahbeg Aug 2011
Will you rest your head on me as you wake?
Will you hold my hand and walk?
Will you whisper in my ear and giggle?
I breathe a sigh when I’m near you.

Could I hold you and speak with my eyes?
Could I wrap you in my arms and know you are mine?
Could I kiss the nape of your neck and thrill you?
I breathe a sigh when I’m near you.

Never will deny a touch or word with you
Never wanting time to pass without you
Never wanting for another’s smile but yours
I breathe a sigh when I’m near you.

I know your love is mine to have and hold
I hear you sing the song to my heart
I see the beauty of our lasting love, even in silence.
I breathe a sigh when I’m near you.

Gone
Martin Trahbeg Apr 2011
When she’s gone,
nothing else matters
she’s gone.
left me shattered
my heart is so battered
she’s gone.
My life is so empty
Since the day that she left me
My heart is so heavy
She’s gone.
Why did it happen?
Our love was so great
Now it’s too late
She’s gone.
My memories are happy
I know that sounds sappy
She’s gone.
She loves me I know it
Her actions they show it
She’s gone.
Too hard to hold onto
She knows that I want to
She’s gone.
My heart is on fire
It’s not a funeral pyre
She’s gone
It loves her relentless,
How could I prevent this?
She’s gone.
It’s me she still loves
She makes me see doves
But still..
She’s gone.
One day; maybe 10 years
She’ll come back and erase years
I might be wrong,
But in my heart,
She’s like a song…
And I hope
It's not too long.

Passion
Martin Trahbeg Mar 2011
Passion is luscious, wet and warm,
Admiring the curves of each others form.
Starts all hurried, urgent the fervor,
Grows to epic proportions and even further.
The rhythm is steady, like a metronome’s beat,
We marvel at the feeling, makes us complete.
It’s a flower, song, or meal to sustain us through life.
It tempers our tribulations; everyday strife.
Passion, for love, is sometimes mistaken,
When we find that it’s not, feeling forsaken.
A passion for life is just as rewarding,
Each step of the way our mind is recording.
Memories hold our life’s short passage,
Some go through them, teetering on cliff’s edge.
Some go out with a flash, some a flicker,
With passion for life, it seems to come quicker.
Thank heaven for passion; it’s truly a blessing,
Without it mankind would perish, about that; I’m not guessing.

The Storm
Martin Trahbeg Dec 2010
I hear the dull roar,
It’s a growing sound,
Keep moving forward,
don’t ever lose ground.

The cyclone is coming,
No escaping by running.
As they say, "move it or lose it",
Or your life will be forfeit.

Make a strong shelter
From the helter skelter.
Get your life in order,
Don’t run for the border.

Stand and be counted
All obstacles surmounted
Twister leaves you with devastation,
From life’s rubble; new creation.

Like a tree in the tempest
Stand up and pass life’s test
When calm is around, and beautiful the view,
You’ve finally found the new, stronger you.

A Bump in the Road
Martin Trahbeg Oct 2010
The bliss can be fleeting
Two hearts together beating
Love meant to last forever
Don’t touch me…ever

Feelings are hurt,
Just a bump in the road

Words said in jest
Felt like a punch in the chest
Misunderstood, but intentions were right
Whispered words plead your case…late at night.

Tangled lovers unite.
Just a bump in the road.

Old love can be best
Been put to the test
Even old partners can make a mistake
We forget, and others feelings we forsake.

Harder to smooth when deep rooted pain
Just a bump in the road.

Communication is key
Don’t just let it be
We work through tough dealings
Then back are fond feelings.

True love strikes again
Just a bump in the road

Life’s highway is long,
Subject of many a song
How do we get to the end?
With a love, and a friend.

We pave it all smooth.
Was there a bump in the road?

New England
Martin Trahbeg Sep 2010
We frolic in the summer sun, but now it’s all undone
The long days, seemed they were unending.
Green trees no longer, surely the weather is sending,
The heat is retreating to southern reaches, where elders seek their fun.

The smoldering sun, which burns the most tender of skins
It’s hold on the valley once so strong is slowly fleeting.
Birds feel the call to fly away, and the message they are heeding.
The cold brings color to life, as the change of season begins.

A different fire spreads over the land, and it’s beauty draws crowds
The time of perfection of beauty is always far too short
Painters, and artists of every kind, hurry to show their report
Soon comes frost, and firebrands lose their perch under winter’s threatening clouds.

Pumpkins and cider, plowed fields and a country fair
Tourists taking advantage of weather so pleasant
Soon dinner will be turkey and yams, or maybe even a pheasant
And to Grandma’s we’ll go, bundled against the ever-cold air.

Yes summer goes, and seasons change, but never a dull moment.
Every season has it’s beauty, and fall in New England’s beyond compare.
Spend a day, an hour, a moment, just to stop and at the colors stare
No sorrow for the passing, life’s rhythm beating toward the future, hell-bent.

Three months, of the cycle is all it lasts, but more beauty throughout the year is coming
Lights colored and sparkling, a blanket of white,
The quiet is serene and complete after a snow late in the night.
Then a crocus leads the way, and the sun returns, and the bees return to their humming.

Remembering Love
Martin Trahbeg Jun 2010
I remember love, quiet and soft
A gentle touch, and a brush of the lips
Love so tender, my eyes tear to remember
The embrace so comforting, the world stops spinning
A kiss so soft, a chill rides my spine
Mine eyes barely open, seeing beauty laid bare.
Softly started, slowly gathering speed,
Bodies entwined to our building urgency.
Rhythmic drumming, hearts pounding,
Fire filled lungs, chests heaving and flushed
Passion, an erupting volcano
Emitting emotions of the love shared
Afterglow savored, our love, quiet and soft,
A gentle touch, and a brush of the lips.

The Journey
Martin Trahbeg May 2010
Left homeport to find a new life
Adrift, a stranded sailor without a sail,
What water is this, I travel alone?
I search the horizon, to no avail.

Searching the seas for a new port to call mine
A storm came up, tore my ship ragged
Left with low provisions, and a mighty thirst
My mind is frayed, all jumbled and jagged.

Davy Jones is barking my name, from his list
Breeze comes up, makeshift I use my shirt
Feeble attempt to make my way to safe harbor
Please Poseidon send my journey to solid dirt.

A promising future is my one request
A life with honor, a partner, a friend
A new day dawns with red in the morning
The warning is ominous, I refuse to bend.

I defy the fates and make it through
Red sunset tonight bodes a better day tomorrow
Persevere and push on, change on the horizon
The gull is welcome, I reach a calm bay, end of sorrow.

Mother Earth
Martin Trahbeg May 2010
The earth’s been our playground, beautiful and vast.
A utopian world on which the human race was cast.
In the sliver of time, we’ve been an industrial culture
We’ve preyed on her resources like a ravenous vulture.

A carnivore hunting for bigger and fatter game,
All in the guise of improving and seeking for fame.
Inventors create contraptions and devices,
Never bothering to notice how much smaller the ice is.

Carbon is aplenty, spewing forth in filthy emission
Ozone suffering from man with limited vision.
Many animals hunted to extinction, and more on the way
Ecologists fight to be heard, to government's policies sway

Our waters suffer abuse and lose their purity
Advances in culture, lend earth no security
Oil and garbage circle the earth killing the wildlife off it,
Inventions and efforts to save us, offer no profit.

Efforts must be made to lower and stop pollution
All species soon will be dead without a solution.
Let’s work together and help clean mother earth.
What’s our future generations’ health really worth?

A partner we should be, and not a voracious parasite,
We are cognizant beings; we should know to do what’s right.
Love the earth, give back more than you take,
Do it now, do it fast, for our children’s sake.

The Aquifer
Martin Trahbeg Apr 2010
Parched and wanting, I search out the aquifer
My soul longs for a drenching, let it wash over
I reach out to accept its’ comfort
I want to immerse myself in the glorious flood
It envelops me in warmth and placates me
Soothes my muscles, and settles my heart
The calming flow sluices over me, cleansing my spirit
It relieves the stress of day to day life
My wrinkled skin cries out to absorb it,
To be caressed by it, at one with the flow
Pour it on, the stream never gets cold
The rapture and glory, never grows stale or is wasted
It’s love, of course, I wish would rain on me so readily
May I never again be in a barren wasteland without a drop to behold

Three Words
Martin Trahbeg Apr 2010
Three short words don’t seem enough
The implications they emanate is pretty heavy stuff
They’re said easily by some, stuttered and stammered by the timid
Fear of rejection reigns in most hearts, making it tough

They’re three little words I’ve longed to feel and say
To someone with whom I’d spend a lifetime in a day
A person whose mind and body is joined with mine in exaltation
Who’ll play a song in my heart, without making my soul pay.

Three words meaning volumes when said to another
The words often said with different meaning by a father and mother
A commitment to stay to the end of the play
A standing ovation for devotion, applauding one another

Three words made of clay, two artists mold with care
Fired in a kiln, and decorated by the pair
Their free flowing form, it’s beauty is unequalled
Worth millions to them, but to others only change to spare

When the three are uttered, stopped in place by the feeling
No drama or games, when it’s unexpected makes it appealing.
From the heart, with sincerity makes these words come easy
We all know these three words , that send your heart reeling.

The Joy Of Life
Martin Trahbeg Apr 2010
Happiness is found in very strange places
Usually when you’re not looking
Opportunities oft show their smug faces

Search the world over for a scrap of joy
Come up empty with a lack of success
Seems bliss is an adversary, executing a ploy

Sorrow and cynicism, readily found
True happiness is a rainbow
Where does it meet ground?

Look for a solution to your daily strife,
Contentment comes from so many sources
Joy is a lantern in your heart, to light up your life.

Enigma
Martin Trahbeg Apr 2010
LOVE’S AN ENIGMA
NEVER FULLY SOLVED
LIFE’S GREAT CHALLENGE
A PASSION PLAY, WHEN EVOLVED

YEARS OF BLISS
AN EON OF PAIN
BEGINS WITH A KISS
OFT ENDS IN THE DRAIN

SOMETIMES EASILY FOUND
THEN SOMEHOW LOST
NO MATTER WHAT,
ALWAYS A COST

A MYSTERY TO MOST
PARADISE TO SOME
ONCE IT’S FOUND
LEAVES YOU SPEECHLESS AND NUMB

MEMORIES CHERISHED
OF TRUE LOVE’S MOMENT
LEAVES YOU WONDERING
WHERE THE TIME WENT

TIME’S A-WASTING
SEIZE IT IN ANY WAY
WHEN IT PASSES YOU BY
YOU’LL RUE THE DAY

LIFE AT IT’S FULLEST
IT’S A PLEASURE TO HOLD
NEVER SAY
NOT NOW, WE’RE TOO OLD

THE RIDDLE PLAYS OUT
THE JOKES ON YOU
TO LIVE IN HARMONY
ACHIEVED BY FEW

Value of Life
Martin Trahbeg Apr 2010
How is our life’s worth measured?
By offspring, actions, or wealth?
What are the components on the yardstick?
Worrying your value, affects your mental health.

If life is truly worth living
The joy and verve for life emits from within
Emotions are worn on your sleeve
Be at peace, and comfy in your own skin

Why let others conflict our minds?
External factors make us shout with dismay
Put them out of your head
Let Karma and intellect rule the day

Your peers will judge you behind your back,
Live with honor, integrity, and lack of spite
The value of your actions, not consciously rated
Know in your heart, you’ve done what is right.

Die with no regrets hanging over your head,
You can’t take it back when you’re six feet under
Years of life spent with compassion and service of others,
Validates your worth when torn asunder.

For today, live your life with an eye towards passion
Hold on to your ideals, use your heart for decision,
You’ll never go wrong with integrity and trust
You’ll grow old, and be free of ridicule and derision.

The Crocus
Martin Trahbeg Mar 2010
The crocus with fresh tendrils, hardy and alive
Fighting frost and snow just to survive.
In it's garden, cold, thin and alone.
Visual pleasure emits from ground, hard as bone.
A beauty to behold, cherish, and covet,
I tend the spring garden, so we all may love it.

S & M

The other, the face of a man, craggy and old

Prejudice
Martin Trahbeg Feb 2010
Paltry people project putrid opinions, propelled from puny pinpoint brains, in their pint-sized prickly pineapple pulp heads.

If they stopped and stayed silent, stood still and listened, stuff some significant people said would seep in, and seem simply superb when seen with acceptance and socially sensitive skills

The Bards New Journey
Martin Trahbeg Jan 2010
Change in life is uncertain
The bard lifts the curtain
The play has many acts
Reveals unknown facts

A new dawn is breaking
The journey worth making.
Book a trip, use the edge of your seat
Mistakes of the past, not to repeat.

Joy is a secret, hidden the road
See if you can break the code
Put the struggle behind you
Those chains no longer bind you

On the road to happiness rolling
The scenes, verve of life extolling?
I’ve seen the hope and possibility
The show ends, curtain lowers with tranquility.

Loneliness

Barren, empty, alone
Mind wandering the frozen tundra.
Snowblind
Desolate, unfriendly, thirsty
Heart searching desert dunes
Dehydration
Lost, adrift, aimless
Eyes scanning a sea, endless
Mirage
Earth’s landscape before you
Nowhere to turn
Lonely
