Second Chances
Mariann Sep 2013
How I miss your embrace
When we met in that crazy place
I miss your touch
But when you’re close I tremble
I broke your heart am sorry
Never was it my intention I swear
Someone broke my heart into a million pieces
I’m still putting it back together
Forgive me if I doubt you
I know you are not to blame
But I am broken, and
I’m not sure what you expect to gain
But just know that while you hold me and I am next to you
About the world I forget
It’s not your skin color or your race
it’s just that honestly I am afraid.
Scared to give you my all
And about me you will soon forget
I have no more tears to cry
So I’m taking a chance and giving you my heart
I just truly hope this is a decision I won’t regret.

Bruised Joy
Mariann Sep 2013
All around me I could see was happiness
Where I felt I needed to be.
White picket fences and a happy family,
It seemed like a dream.
First love, naïve I became,
For it was never reality.
Crushed heart, broken soul,
Bruises and tears as I laid on the floor.
Blind to my present stuck on the past,
I refused to believe that true love never lasts
All emotions gone, just a walking corpse.
Deceit, lies, and drugs, can you hurt me more?
A child I gave you a gift from my womb
A solution to a broken home.
An angel god sent me to fill my life with joy.
She helped me stop you in time,
For it was her life you would eventually destroy.
Awaken I was reborn and brought back to life.
I don’t hate you, I see the pain, a lifeless soul,
My heart goes out to you I hope you heal,
My wounds are closed and now I smile.
As I look into that dark room I thank god for love,
Because now I am stronger than ever and I can sit here and say,
The dream was just that and it was you to blame.
I summed up the strength and chose to walk away
Now you’re alone in this cruel disgusting game.
Now sit there and take it like the man you say you are,
And I will gladly sit here and laugh as you swallow your pride.
