Tiny Little Cracks
Mariana Garcia Oct 2012
It’s a shame you don’t know what you’re running from

because all youre doing is trying to get to heaven in a hurry

and youd much rather be your own friend instead
of having some

God knows what else you have hiding

In those tiny little cracks in your heart

Sadness You Old Friend
Mariana Garcia Oct 2012
Her shaky hands unlatch the window

She greets sadness as an old friend

As their time together goes on

Her wounded rhymes play out into the afternoon

She whispers soft verses of white winter hymns

As night falls

Sadness

And the dancing shadows

Become her only companions

She shuts her window

And locks it tight

Hoping sadness never departs again
