Turbulent Friendship
Margaret Aug 2012
You took my hand, interlocking our pinky’s

Confirming our declaration to our graves then thinking

My heart is filled with promises for you

Sometimes half my heart is emptied feeling blue

Sharing you brings circumstances to be unfair

This is something you don’t understand

The emotions of our friendship I believe were formed

Although there are times it travels through a storm

Don’t leave me, I can’t let go

Stay with me and let our friendship flow
This poem is written to someone who entered my life a few years ago adding joy and love yet with  bittersweet emotions that cannot be explained.

Brown - Your Eyes
Margaret Jul 2016
Brown – Your Eyes

Dark and rich
As nature
Color of the trees and soil
A hue of luminous browns
Blending shadows of the sky
The color of your eyes

Gazing brings me deeper within
Descending into rustic colors
Shades of taupe fading at dusk
Taking me intensely into your sight
Like twilight

Chocolate coffee
Galloping horses from Renaissance
Embroidered in a spectrum
A gallery of browns
Cover me like a gown

The colors of the earth
As in the chestnut tree
Where we sit
Your eyes find me
I surrender
To the splendor
Of your eyes
