Tsunami
Gwendolyn Aug 2016
To find oneself occupied
In the strange hours of the night,
With a tsunami that hits the coast;
my mind.
While the fish swim worried
and the panicked debris flows
I stay woke
To the thumping of the waves
synonymous with the heart
yet when I so unconsciously fall
What is it that sets dream and reality
so far apart?

A Time to Remember
Gwendolyn Aug 2016
Unaware
Her teeth pull her lips in embrace.
Her senses hyper aware of everything;
The birds chirp outside rapidly
Mimicking the sound of her heartbeat,
Her eyes move across the room
As the bird flutter their wings.
Almost as if in cohesion
Both the heart and the bird
Escape
Unleash.
As do the rays of light shining down through the mesh curtains
Making noticeable
Every single detail of a time to remember.
