The sun breaking down on your smile,
Tunes playing in my head,
Then your crying all the while,
And O that potent dread.
I tear for those unwanted,
By and by it’s all the same,
And all those who stay quieted,
Are threatening to douse their flame.

Can't I give It all away,
Walk astray,
And find my own path?
My own wrong path, with my own beating heart?
There is nothing wrong with being different,
and I have to tell myself that everyday.
Just scary and new,
It feels exciting to not care about what they say,
Everyday, Its my day.
Everyday is new.
Everyday i'm me.
Everyday is true.
I'm not pretending anymore.
I’m walking my own path.
I don’t want a beaten trail,
I’m walking away,
I'm walking astray.

War Ghost by Maggie Reeves
Maggie Reeves Jun 2011
I feel like a ghost floating through a battle field,
I am broken,
I am afraid,
I am a war ghost.
Between my teeth
And my lips
The fighting never ceases,
Cracked and Bleeding creases,
Cracked and Bleeding pieces,
The wars within my mouth.
I drift by,
Day in, day out,
A ghost can’t cry,
But she does when alone.
A tree is rough,
Strong,
Sturdy,
I am none of these.
A tree is silent,
…Silent,
Which I am,
Which I choose to be.
A ghost is silent,
A ghost is alone,
A ghost ignored,
A ghost is dead.
I am a war ghost.
Between my teeth
And my lips
The fighting never ceases,
Cracked and Bleeding creases,
Cracked and Bleeding pieces,
The wars within my mouth.

Let the battle rage on.

This was a poem I made for class. We were reading the book Speak and this was one of the poems that I made for the project.

I was here,
Under my tears,
Under my fears,
All along,
In the dark,
Under bark,
Hiding.
I found myself,
In the dirt,
In the earth,
Growing,
In secret.
I’ve grown past the grime,
And the filth,
And now I’m free.
I am free.
