The Bestie
Madison Alward Mar 2011
The less I see you the more I find,
that you are the one most on my mind.
In my head you are stuck
and with a stroke of luck,
You might say, "Hey, this guy is my kind."
The farther you are, I confess that I fear,
that you and I will never again be near.
As the Sun fades away,
and night overtakes day,
not a moment goes by when I wish you weren't here.
To you, love is what I send,
because I'm so glad I can call you my friend.
So before you go,
I want you to know,
no matter what, we'll be friends 'til the end.

Just to speak to you, to explore your innermost thoughts. I wish to know you, to enjoy your company. Less and less I sleep, just thinking about you. Loving the idea of spending time with you, even if it is only for a moment. I believe that moment could spark an idea in your mind. An idea that perhaps we should become better acquainted with each other. Never have I felt such instantaneous attraction at such an unexpected moment.

Oh, how I want to listen to your voice. Hear the soft melody escape your lungs and float gently into my mind. And feel the warmth it offers. It would be a paradise to spend this time with you. Regretfully, you will never know this, for you will never know me. Existing in two different worlds, two different lifestyles, our paths crossed and begin to drift away just as two lines meet, only to be separated once again.

Yes, we will go on to live our own lives, and more than likely, we will be happy. On the other hand, what if out paths met and became one in the same...what could have happened? Unending possibilities emerge and my mind swims with the thought that our meeting was not coincidence. An eternal happiness with one another. Realizing this...it boggles my mind. Excitement overwhelms me as I run through every scenario. Being together...it could have been the best thing to ever happen to us. Each day with you would have been a blessing, another day I would live on this Earth as a happy human being. Adoring you in all your beauty. Unbelievable beauty. This is what you possess. I can only imagine you are as beautiful on the inside as you are in plain sight. For you’ve cast a spell on me and I can’t shake it. Under the stars we would sit, discovering just how perfect we are for each other. Love surrounds us as the world outside fades away.

The Climb
Madison Alward Mar 2011
My only regret is not saying a word,
keeping my mouth shut and not being heard.
The shadows were my friend so that no one could see,
the person underneath, the actual me.
Now I've had enough and now I will fight,
to come out of the darkness and into the light.
For the worst thing you can do is hide yourself away
so that no one can see during the night or the day.
So prepare yourself world because I won't stop.
I'll keep climbing the mountain, all the way to the top.

My Golden Light
Madison Alward Feb 2013
The Sun, the Moon, and the stars align.
I think to myself, “this must be a sign.”
from the Father above,
He sends me your love,
and now our two hearts combine.

You brighten my day like the burning Sun
and I know for sure that you’re the one
that was sent by He
and was meant for me.
In the game of love, I have surely won.

Like the nighttime Moon, you show me the way
as the cold, dark night turns slowly to day.
I feel your arms
as the shield me from harms
and I know for a fact you’ll stay.

As the stars in the sky burn bright,
my first and only thought is, “Oh, what a sight.”
They act as a guide
as you stay by my side.
In the sky above my head, you are my golden light.

Not Today
Madison Alward Jul 2013
I shall not weep today, for mother Earth is weeping for me. Her tears, slithering down the pale, lifeless sky. The ground, her palms; drenched in the salty fluid as she tries to catch a breath. I feel her. The aching and soreness, it hurts. As she sobs ever so softly, I shall not weep today.

I shall not sob today, for mother Earth is sobbing for me. Her cries, sharp and in bursts, as they pierce the sky. Buildings quake at the sound of her pain. Screaming between the sobs, all while trying to catch her breath, I can hear the pain in her voice. As she screams in pain for me, I shall not sob today.

I shall not hurt today, for mother Earth is hurting for me. I can see it in the flashes of light that electrify and send terror to all around her. It cuts through the air like a knife, striking it’s target with immense force. Fearful, I watch as she rips herself apart. Knowing she feels my pain, I shall not hurt today.

Dreams
Madison Alward Mar 2011
Dreams will come and dreams will go.
But where they go, I do not know.
New experiences are had day by day.
And unlike dreams, the memories stay.
So create all new memories and live for the fun.
Because in the end, you only have one.
To the fullest extent, only one life to live.
And in all the years spent, only one heart to give.
So shy not away from that heavenly face,
but accept it as a blessing and feel it's embrace.
Let it shower you in gifts, compassion and love.
Open your heart to the heavens above.
For through all of the pain and all of the strife,
love can be seen as your dreams come to life.

Now Or Never
Madison Alward Mar 2011
Now....
Now I need you more than ever,
like the plants need the Sun
and to avoid bad weather.
Now we can start with a clean slate,
our entire lives are ahead of us
so lets not live one we will hate.
Now the world seems to end,
hopefully it won't but if it does,
I want to be able to call you my friend.
Never....
Never again will I feel this way,
as sure as seasons change
and the night turns to day.
Never will I cause harm to you,
because If I did, my life would be hell
and I would feel rather blue.
Never in my life will colors shine bright,
this is simply due to the fact
that in my dark sky, you are a guiding light.
Now....Or....Never
Now we seem to go seperate ways,
and with my entire heart
I hope it isn't for the rest of my days
Or my life won't be complete,
and I can safely say
that happiness and joy will be very discrete.
Never, ever will you leave my heart,
you are the warm feeling at night
and the spark in the morning that makes my day start.
This poem was inspired by Breaking Benjamin's "Sooner or Later"

The Reality Is...
Madison Alward Mar 2011
If my dreams were real,
down before you I’d kneel.
Hoping again, my heart you could heal.
Could you take away the pain?
Will you help keep me sane?
I’d have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
In you I’d confide
and nothing I would hide.
All the while hoping you’d stay by my side.
Thin as water and think as glue,
no matter how tough, you and I would pull through
until that day when we both said, “I do.”
I wake up and scream
and as real as it would seem,
the reality is...that its’ only a dream.

Questions
Madison Alward Mar 2013
What can I do? Why wont you see?
You and I go together perfectly.
I’m dying to be with you, it’s killing me.
Perhaps I should run, just take off, flee...
...but I will not. Not this time.
Not now. Not after I’ve found something so beautiful.
Are you scared, perhaps afraid?
From love, we both have strayed.
Too many times the game of love I’ve played.
I thought maybe one would have stayed.
It is a new day. A new story to unfold.
Join me. Help me discover all that there is to know in this world.
Will you stand by me or run and hide?
I’d do anything to have you by my side.
As calming as feeling the ocean’s tide,
being with you, all my pain subsides.
Our time is now. Not in a month, not in a year, now.
This is our chance. We can create something strong and beautiful as a roaring fire. However, I          am only a matchbox without a match. This is a two person job, I can’t light the fire by myself...

Searching For Light
Madison Alward Mar 2011
I'm living in the dark, no sunshine today.
And when I find a source of light,
it slowly slips away
into the vast darkness behind a cloud.
I'm running out of light,
and so I cry aloud,
"Time is moving too fast, leaving to soon!"
But as the Sun fades away
out comes the moon.
My heart races on, powering my mind.
The moon lights the way, and helps me to find
that the light I was searching for is not out in space,
that light, in fact, emanates from her face.
