Everything fades as you slowly walk with your feet cushioned underneath by tiny particles of softly shaded sand.
The ocean waves mist you as they gently collide into the thick mass of denim-blue water—
Strands of straggly hair get tangled in the quiet, gentle breeze.
Your mind clears as you walk into the distant sunset of gorgeous colour.
Nothing can come between your spirit and the peace and harmony.
You feel so free and majestic; it almost seems as if you’re soaring over the ocean blue—
Like a pearl white seagull with nothing better to do.
You halt and splash into the sea for a fresh fish meal.
Feeling slightly heavy after indulging the innocent creature, you flutter your wings, slowly ascending into the night sky.
Down below you can hear the tiny footsteps of a strange, little girl.
She notices you as you float down and land on top of a small, wooden post a few inches in front of her.
She stares into your bright dandelion-coloured eyes.
Something very bizarre and unusual happens, a weird yet fascinating connection.
Your feathers crackle, and the girl cripples.
Both of you form into one beneath the sand and wait for another lost soul to come across you and join the cycle—
The cycle of peace through a demented one’s eyes.

Lips part, and the sun shines.
With every touch a star is born.
Breathing life/
Fingertip colour.
Words so softly spoken—
Carried away with the jet-planed waves.
I notice your smile—
The snow-capped mountains melt away.
Footsteps/
Dandelions dance.
Laughter.
Eyes like a bear.
Radiance.
Joy.
Luck or fate?
Your scent/
Your hair/
Your face/
You.

So I've missed this,
And you've given me the light.
I write this with your pen in hopes of writing something worthwhile.
You are the reason I smile.
You are the last branch on this tree.
I've been falling for quite some time,
hitting every branch on the way down.
Snagging a few to find out they would snap, break, and bend.
You are the sturdiest of the millions.
With you I am closer to the stars than ever before.
And when the sun shines tomorrow,
I know it's going to be a good day.
Just promise me you won't break,
and I promise I'll never let go because you know,
it takes two to make this tree grow.

So I set fire to everything I touch.
To everything that truly matters.
These flame-filled fingertips are a hazard
that oceans cannot tame.
And with time comes commitment,
but the winds have carried ours to heights just barely
out of reach.
And will the sun still shine tomorrow,
or will the clouds come rolling in?
This carousel mind is getting out of hand—
for thoughts are jumbled, mixed, and spearated—
all in a fit of confusion.
The blood in my veins thick with desperation.

Hey, did you ever notice how the stars shine
when you're not around?
How the wind blows—
encrypted with notes of your lies.
Pluck the string and give in.
The pollen on my nose is such a sin.

You call her name, that star of yours,
but before long she'll burn out,
don't you know?
The seed we planted, you refused to sow.

The spit and spatter of the faucet
leaves me wondering.
Comb the gel out of your hair,
and rub the burning lipstick off of your neck.
Lie down, close your eyes, and dream of this wreck.

Thunder calls as the clouds roll in.
Creak, tap, creak, tap.
Soon you'll be in Alaska—
out of sight, out of grasp—
way too far from here.
Reflection reveals fear.

River currents and broken promises.
Autumn's red leaves kiss the ground.
A bark, a neigh, a quack, a ribbit—
all the same.
The branches of tomorrow have become
weak, limp, lame.

You know, they don't shine for you anymore.
You came on stiff and strong—
only to let them down.
But as time calls and the future whispers,
memories of you will be yesterday's news.
As unimportant as a finite bruise.

Lie down, dear,
And secure those precious eyes.
Mind will sway and finger the waves.

Take it easy, my love.
Spiraling tears will pass,
And the clouds will part only for you.

Sunshine, brighter than the sun.
Dreaming has never been so marvelous.
Part your lips and flowers bloom.

Soaring over the sea.
The valley swallows you whole.
So close but so out of reach.

Embracing astonishing joy.
Smiles mirroring beauty.
The clock strikes twelve.

Blue to gray
And green to brown.
Love, have you drowned?

Autumn's last leaf holds on.
Missing your mesmerizing embrace.
Ever so sweet.

Toss and turn.
Flip through the pages.
Touch feet to ground.

Rise and shine.
Blink to life.
Dream versus reality.
