I'm my father's child in wisdom
I'm my mother's child in wit
When I use the two together
Nothing ever really fits.
I'm my mother's child in action
I'm my fathers child in thought
I make a list of groceries
Then cringe at what I bought

You go out of your way to change yourself for them this time.
Well we never thought there was anything wrong with who you really are.
You put yourself in a store-bought box,
Dust of your shoulders,
Commit to sell yourself again.
You've done it seven times so far.
People come, and they pick you up,
They turn you over and upside-down.
They don't care what's inside.
Head over heels for an idea you can't wrap your head around,
Head over heels for a feeling that's not  mutual.
You're out of this world, but you hinder yourself
When you're all cooped up in a box on a shelf.
Wonder what made you so **** ashamed of mind,
It was something of beauty, but your so disinclined to show it.

You've got me.
You've got me, so far.
Don't take me
Into the yard,
I'll die there
And rot
There, she goes
Here he comes
He's got a gun
And a bouquet of roses.
Don't hate me
Hate that bell jar.
We're all running
In circles, we come
And in circles we go.
We see the stars
But reach out to the dome.
I've got you.
I've got you so far
This moment
Will bounce and resound
Hither she comes,
and thither she goes.
Hither and thither we go.

You think you're making friends
You're making failure
Follow trends
Just like a sailor
That will end up in a ditch, a rut
Or just a ****
But coke you'll never have enough

An attitude alludes
That you are better and you choose
What we will do
And what's yours too
If you can see it
You can't stop it.

It's been four nights straight
of witnessing your self absorption
three long days
of pained response and selfish boredom
It's clear that we've failed you again
by tainting all that superior air that surrounds you
A shame your golden roots draw from this stem
Go on home now
It's clear that we've failed you again

Perpetually unimpressed
how did you earn the right to pass those judgments?
close your eyes and spin
arms open
They say that blood is thick
It sticks around when water's running
yours is long gone
good riddance

Before it was twelve straight years
Of living in your self-projected
Shadow within
This town you think you were neglected
Well I turned out just fine
It's funny how some things will never change
You were born a prince
Scoffing at the sky above your head

we walked there in the snow
that sign post
equidistant in our heads
we wanted justice
so we filled space with our heads
we thrashed our arms
demanding peace be had
and then we got it
now we know it's true
instead we fill our heads with other things
we know can't fool us too
we lived our lives in wonder
chasing lightening through the woods
our heads were floating in the wind
our hands were wielding cotton strings

Let the uncashed lie
unimportant at the present moment
let them be my make-shift mutiny
Let the untouched wait
delay pleasure and torment both
Until the suffering transforms
Revealing more pleasure than I've earned
And so, suffering gives way to sorrow,
sorrow gives way to woe
Senseless action is given thoughtful meaning
Sequence is deemed absent and uninvolved
We can fool ourselves as whole
But let us not take in on our own
We must not let this go
