The Autumn Fairy
lynn karen Oct 2016
Under the moonlight the creatures all glare
At a beautiful Fairy with rich Autumn hair
She crunches the leaves under foot where she treads
As she dances and giggles at the stars overhead!

This beautiful creature in a dress olive green
Comes out to play when the humans do dream
With mind like a child and a voice like a harp
She skips and she sings for the creatures of dark!

The mesmerised Hedgehogs, a line dance do they
Kicking their heels in the cold yellow hay
Most creatures around all decide to join in
Laughing and wearing their best Autumn grins!

Sweet Nellie Owl gives a “Twittery twoo!”
And she opens her wings to applaud all they do
Then all of the moths with formation of wings
Glide past with valour making circles of wind!

Then gusts stir the leaves in the chill of the night
And the beautiful Fairy just smiles with delight
She knows the display we’ll wake up to at morn
Golden leaves at our feet as the Autumn's now born!

Grandma's Slippers
lynn karen Jul 2016
Shall I tell you what I think of
If ever I feel blue
I picture Grandma’s slippers
Or what they used to do!

They danced when they were happy
And slouch when they felt sad
Then skipped and made a funny twirl
Whenever they were glad!

Sometimes I’d watch them constantly
If Grandma was in bed
And wonder why they didn’t move
Without my Grandma’s legs!

I knew if Grandma wasn’t well
Her slippers slept nearby
They looked so sad and lonely
At times they made me cry!

I thought her slippers were like dogs
As they were warm and sweet
They looked just like my Grandma
And crowned her very feet!

Her slippers always made me feel
They loved my Grandma too
As they were always with her
Always loyal, and so true!

So if ever YOU feel lonely
And don’t know what to do
Picture Grandma’s slippers
And they might just comfort YOU!

The Old Apple Tree
lynn karen Oct 2016
I remember the old tree with apples galore
Which lived in our garden right near the back door
His branches were twisty with all sorts of knots
With fruit to feed many, from a time once forgot!

He looked really posh with his head in the air
And he was my friend and long hours we did share
Up high in his branches where birds sometimes flew
In a make believe kingdom where dreams did come true!

When needing escape from the trivia’s of school
I’d climb high in his branches and wept like a fool
I’d tell him my downfalls and he’d lend me his ear
Then he’d rock me so gently, and away went all fear!

The old house we lived in was too old for repair
Then an order was served, to evict us from there
In the garden of my childhood where things came to pass
Mere mortal and nature, with a fondness to last!

So I’ll remember the old tree with apples galore
Whom lived in our garden right near a back door
There was more to the old tree than apples or wood
His branches held comfort, and his heart had much love!

Sweet Yesteryears'

Sweet Yesteryears’

A sound from the radio taps at her ear
And brings back a memory from sweet yesteryear
A smile tugs her lips as she goes down that path
To days of a childhood where hearts seemed to laugh!

Back home in her garden with all of the clan
Knees bruised from scrumping the fruits of the land
Clothes worn and tatty but nobody cared
As laughter was plenty in the house which they shared!

They all made their pastimes with games which were free
Conkers on strings also climbing the trees
Chalking  on pavements to play some hopscotch
All was unruly but they felt like top-notch!

A sound from the radio beckons once more
Closing the gate tight from this magnificent tour
Sweet yesteryears‘ over but will never depart
So unwrap it real careful to spread light on your dark!

She Dreams
lynn karen Jul 2016
In her make believe world, she lives in her dreams
To escape from reality, where slates are made clean
With her make believe family, laying under one roof
Nobody can harm them, as they live just for TRUTH!

Where pain is no longer, just a breed of good health
With no need for money, no longer bad stealth
In this make believe haven, with the grass evergreen
Where love is the answer, and yet she still DREAMS!

Where thoughts are no longer, unclear nor opaque
Translucent and truthful without deceit nor heartbreak
Mistakes can be rectified, they just clean out the mind
Then absolve all the hatred, to enrich it with KIND!

In her make believe world, just LOOK how she shines!
Futile is extinguished, all the wars left behind
Together as one unit, where they don’t walk alone
So she stays in a coma, to return never, HOME!

Twas The Month Of December
lynn karen Dec 2016
Twas the month of December
When Humans went mad
To the shops they all bustle
Armed with their bags
Not a hush nor a whisper
As they head for the stores
Tongues simply snarling
With words which aren't pure!

Watched from the Heavens
The Saints scratch their heads
On Earth it’s the season
For joy so it said!
Instead they go shopping
To push and to shove
Then they send Christmas cards
To their neighbours with love?

They were dumbfounded
By the Humans display
All the commotion
For this great blessed day!
When will they realise
Christmas on Earth
It’s a time for celebrating
Of Our true Saviours birth!

Each Christmas time this is how I feel whenever I go shopping, that's why I wrote this poem tonight. I hope each of you have a peaceful Christmas without the bustle of the shops :) Lynn

She Dances By Midnight

She Dances By Moonlight

She dances by moonlight
Alone in the dark
Bleeding and dripping
Love from her heart
Poor little lady
Which nobody knows
She dances by night
To make flowers grow.
Poppies her favourite
Next to the rose
Blood coloured flowers
Grown from her toes
Such beauty she gives us
When tucked up in bed
She dances by moonlight
And lives in MY HEAD!

Grandma's Lullaby
lynn karen Jan 2017
In dreams I hold you every night
When I go to sleep
To sing you Grandma’s lullaby
And caress your tiny feet
I put your head right near my heart
And pray that I could stay
As Grandma cannot find her smile
Since The Lord took you away!

In dreams I see you take first step
And fear in case you trip
Then you hold your arms out wide
And onto me you grip
My heart so fills with pride and does
Somersaults and splits
That’s why Grandma goes to bed
So her heart no longer rips!

In dreams I see you whilst you grow
And never wants to leave
As Grandma needs to be right near
So she no longer grieves
Each night when I am all alone
My mind begins to stray
So I close my eyes to dream again
To help me get through life each day!

The Trumpeter
lynn karen Nov 2016
Whilst out one cold November day
I watched a young man start to play
Where grass no longer cared to grow
I’d say his years, seventeen or so!

With trumpet pressed against his lips
Then lightest touch of fingertips
A tune which ripped into my soul
The sound of church bells then did toll!

Eleven times they gently wept
Then silence of two minutes crept
No sound was heard for miles away
On this we name Armistice Day!

With that the lad just smiled then went
Into a mist from not known whence
Upon the ground just where he stood
Were poppies red like ruby blood!

Amongst the poppies laid a cross
Made of wood outgrown in moss
Words inscribed said age unknown
This trumpeter can now go home!

She Lived Inside A Bottle
lynn karen Nov 2016
She started on her bottle
One cold and lonely day
To help forget her worries
And to pass some time away
She didn’t stop to realise
Because she felt so glum
As the demon in the bottle
It’s power had just begun!

It gave her false security
By making her feel strong
Then hypnotised her loneliness
To make her feel belonged
At first she used it for some rest
A glass or maybe two
But the Demon in the bottle
Needed more to help it through!

With time it took her deep inside
Until she couldn’t breathe
And put a curse upon her mind
So she could never leave
Destroying first her being
And then her dignity
So she drowned inside a bottle
As that’s where she’d rather be!

Nature’s Christmas Gift
lynn karen Dec 2016
In the deep forest lined up in a row
Pine trees await as it’s their time to go
Squirrels all scurry as the people arrive
Birds flock together way up in the skies!

In no time at all the trees were all taken
But left all alone, one tree was forsaken
He bent his head and wept on the ground
Then all of the creatures gathered around!

“What can we do? A field mouse declares
He’s all alone looking sullen and bare.
Perhaps this young Pine is here for a reason
To give us a treat on our Christmas season!”

Each of the creatures then rushed to his aid
Baring their gifts, on the floor which they laid
Birds gathered straw, hedgehogs curl tight
For tinsel and baubles so pretty and bright!

Then all of God’s creatures started to pray
Giving their thanks for their gift on this day!
Now deep in the forest a bright star does shine
To adorn overhead on a much treasured Pine!

May all of your tomorrows
Be gentle and so kind
To take away the yesterday
Tears from all mankind
Also may your paths be straight
Even when they’re narrow
So you can tread with confidence
Where evil dare not follow!

This is just to wish you all
The best for the New Year
May health and love be plentiful
With lots of happy tears!
As bells ring out at midnight
I lift my glass up high
And toast my memories of the past
For the sake of Auld Lang Syne!

Any Old Rags And Bones

Any Old Rags And Bone

Remembering the sound of hooves on cobbled streets
A sturdy man with reins with treasures near his feet
He bellowed loud and clear whilst sitting on his throne
These words still haunt my mind “Any old rags and bone!”

Chorus
Any old rags and bone! Any old rags and bone!
These words he’d cry out loud, I’d hear them in my home
They all rushed to him with bags filled up with ware
I’d look at him transfixed and he’d just sit and stare!

Ma and Pa would go, to gaze at his big horse
All mottled up with muck, his mane all tired and coarse
They’d pat him on his back and tell him it’s alright
But when his Master called, he’d fill the roads with *****!

Chorus
Any old rags and bone! Any old rags and bone!
These words he’d cry out loud, I’d hear them in my home
They all rushed to him with bags filled up with ware
I’d look at him transfixed and he’d just sit and stare!

I never seen no bones, but loads of scruffy clothes
He looked as proud as punch with mismatched stocking toes
He would smile at me with teeth all made of gold
Then he’d shout them words, what made my blood run cold!

Chorus
Any old rags and bone! Any old rags and bone!
These words he’d cry out loud, I’d hear them in my home
They all rushed to him with bags filled up with ware
I’d look at him transfixed and he’d just sit and stare!

Alas one day he died, whilst eating fish and chips
He never stood a chance as down his throat they slipped
At last he got his wish to be the best **** man that’s known
A cart that’s full of rags, and in his throat that crooked bone!

Chorus
Any old rags and bone! Any old rags and bone!
These words he’d cry out loud, I’d hear them in my home
They all rushed to him with bags filled up with ware
I’d look at him transfixed and he’d just sit and stare!

Little John And The Bird
lynn karen Oct 2016
Little John And The Bird

Deep inside of the forest the creatures all despair
The sound of gunshots echoes throughout the morning air
Time was hunting season and the animals were forlorn
Accept for one young Tiger who’s heart was surely torn!

The men that held the boom machine was getting real near
Yet little John the Tiger had not much time to fear
He watched his Mama weeks ago when hunting for her pray
She lain inside a pool so red, these words he heard her say!

“Dear Lord please watch my little John, make his spirit strong
Please be there to comfort him, and let his days be long
Although I’m dying needlessly to make someone’s attire
They know not what they have done.” Her breath then expires!

The ground now shakes the birds awake a scurrying of wings
A flocking of the fearful kind the sound of shrills in spring!
Upon the floor small feathers fall, no chorus had these birds
Yet still John lays in wait alone, no roar from him was heard!

A massive breeze of tiny wings lands right at John’s side
A baby bird with eyes of tears then onto John she flies
“Please don’t eat me Master John, my Mamma I can’t find.”
Upon the ground her feathers laid, John roars at Humankind!

She spread her wings to hide her eyes, something felt amiss
So much fear as John drew near then upon her head he kissed
A man approaches with his gun, with hatred in his eyes
A trophy for him so he thought! the little bird then sighs!

John leaps to save this tiny bird, his roar was ever bold
He killed the gunman with one swipe, his temper now runs cold
He lifts the bird upon his back, then told her not to fear
As in his heart this bird has grown as he gulps back on his tears!

Inside of the deep forest, where darkness once did live
Two faithful friends hearts now shine as they learnt how to forgive
There Mama’s watches them with joy, from way up high above
As now deep inside the forest, two friends now share their love!

Perhaps There Is A Reason
lynn karen Jul 2016
Perhaps there is a reason why you’re no longer here
I cannot help but question as reasons bring me fears
A little dot upon the Earth not getting chance to grow
Perhaps there is a reason? But we will never know!

Perhaps there is a reason why life can be so cruel
I wish I had the answers but we can’t make the rules!
I’ll send my tears to God above so he can feel my pain
Perhaps there is a reason why you could not remain!

Perhaps there is a reason the hurt we all go through
The Dear Lord gave us time to know an Angel just like you
You lit my world and made it bright by coming here to stay
Perhaps there IS A REASON! And it’s one last breath away!

The Cost Is One Kiss
lynn karen Oct 2016
Feeling so lonely, in need of some smiles
I discovered a ladder which reached many miles
Much higher than any rocket could soar
I climbed on right up until I reached ever more!

With a gate up ahead that was made of pure gold
Then this picturesque valley unto me does unfold
The sign on the gate reads “Enter at risk,
Be warned before you go as the cost is one kiss!”

I opened the latch with my heart beating wild
With a feeling of joy like an excited young child
Adrenalin pounding as I got nearer your home
As I knew any moment I’d no longer feel alone!

There you sat in your garden, on a log for a bench
As soon as I seen thee my heart starts to wrench
You’re a picture so radiant, on my knees I do cry
I run to your arms and beg “Please let me die!”

Then I awaken with a heart so content
Albeit a dream, but the Heavens I’d spent!
My face all wet through from this beautiful dream
Saturated pillow and yet inside I feel clean!

I unclasped my fist as it was curled up real tight,
And there in my palm was a red mark, so bright!
A pair of two lips was the shape of this mark
All shining brightly to embellish all dark!

Aghast from amazement, “This wasn’t no dream!
A kiss to leave Heaven, from the Father!” I scream
It wasn’t my time yet, I can do so much more
To make most of tomorrow, from a person now sure!

Young Peter
lynn karen Dec 2016
I remember a friend whom my Brother once had
Young Peter his name was, such a quiet little lad
Roughly his age was between three years or four
He was one of the shy ones and a tad quite unsure!

He only conversed with my Brother as such
And dined with us often but seldom ate much
But he was a good friend to my Brother dear
Not leaving his side until the night time drew near!

We’d hear so much laughter from them during play
He’d chatter and giggle to pass time away
His words were so silent but we knew he was fun
My brother looked happy and his face really shone!

Young Peter alas, was a child of the unknown
He lost his true path and could not get  home
So we played pretence we could see his small face
Then came the bad winter, he left us without trace!

I remember my Brother cried his heart out that day
Saying Peter had died, and his soul slipped away
We mourned for young Peter as respect to our bro
And before long his memory from my Brother did go!

From whence Peter came from is a mystery to me
But some things in life, the eyes will not see
And invisible friends have occurred more than most
Perhaps the lad Peter, was a friendly young GHOST!

© By LynnKaren
My Brother truly had an invisible friend when he was young and I wrote this many years ago but still haven't let my Brother read this as we all promised never to mention Peter again to him. Hence friendly young ghost!

Dear little Molly sweet child of our land
Dressed in a flowing robe the colour of sand
Walking for miles with a sweet tally-**
Golden hair on her shoulders, her body aglow

Her feet are all bare without any sandals
Her fist full of petals is what she must handle
Tears are cascading full of affection
An Angel to guide her and to give her direction

Innocent tears and they have their use
Washing the victim who’s suffering abuse
She creeps into bedroom’s, stands firm like a tower
To minister and scatter the remains of her flower

Red petals are dancing to ease some dismay
All full of wonders to brighten their day
Gathering above making beautiful patterns
Erasing their minds of the pain which has happened

The news the next day said a child of just seven
Was beaten to death and got taken to Heaven
Inscribed on her tombstone was “Here lies young Tess,
A beautiful flower, Now this Angel CAN REST!”

Dear little Molly with wings tally-**
Treads in the Heavens with a friend whom she knows
Molly and Tess are much stronger together
Beautiful Angels, both God’s flowering TREASURES!

She Sits Out Of Reach
lynn karen Oct 2016
No longer the person that she wants to be
She enters the dark door in hope no-one sees
No song in her heart just a numbness within
So she climbs out of reach to a life ‘very grim’

No will to go on as she’s frightened and lost
She’s given up hope and the pain pays a cost
So she sits on a shelf way high out of reach
Like an unwanted toy without trust or belief!

Too scared to unburden how she really feels
So she chooses to go to a world that’s unreal
Encasing the beast which is fed by her fears
In hope that the problem will soon disappear!

The pain’s so intense she no longer can breathe
Emotions so wrought in this life she did weave!
So she closes the door on the darkness for good
Taking chance on a life that is capable of LOVE!

The Fallen Of War
lynn karen Nov 2018
On the eleventh day of the eleventh hour and the eleventh month 1918,
The guns of the western front fell silent after more than four years.

Just two minutes of silence for Armistice Day
Bow your head in respect when ‘The Last Post’ does play
Please remember for whom they lost their lives for
Wear your Poppy with pride for ‘THE FALLEN’ of WAR!

Twas the year 1914 when the great war did start
Many were recruited with much pain in their heart
They knew they were needed and the outcome was bleak
But they fought for their Country in hope for DEFEAT!

Young men aged of nineteen who’s lives was cut short
The weeping of nations, the world OVERWROUGHT!
People lay dying in pools of bright red
Orphaned young children their parents laid DEAD!

Not many returned when FOUR years come to end
People lost kin or their neighbours or FRIENDS!
In a field which bares crosses to mark where they lay
If it wasn’t for their courage, we may not be here on this day!

Just two minutes of silence on  Remembrance Day
Bow your head in respect when ‘The Last Post’ does play
Please remember for whom they lost their lives for
Wear your Poppy with pride for ‘THE FALLEN’ of WAR!
