Momentous
Luke Kurkowski Apr 2013
And in the middle of the bustle I stop
And listen…
Amid rushing scenes I wait for the event,
Amid a Moment…
Never seen here in such streaming color,
Never now…
It arrives with thunder, power, quickness,
It lands here…
If anything were so majestic as this experience,
If only…
I weep at being astounded, in boundless wonder,
I stare…
A Final quakes ripple through my soul,
A shiver…
Momentous is the long awaited event,
Monmentous…

Too Fast
Luke Kurkowski Jan 2013
Mind flying fast as imaginable
No limit to it's cursed quickness
It does not help find an answer
Instead it creates omnipresent questions.

For all my ability to reason and decide
There is no way to sort out this jumble
False realities, impressions, and truths
All block my eyes and lead me wrong.

For Sale
Luke Kurkowski Jan 2013
How do I sell my soul?
Do I get bids from hell?
I would like to market it
To get it off this earth

The Lover's Story
Luke Kurkowski Jan 2013
I wish I didn’t have to leave
I wanted to stay forever there
Beside beauty and in love
Happy to endure a loving stare
But I was forced to leave
All of that loving behind
I was shoved away forcefully
By she who I thought so kind.

The Story
Luke Kurkowski Jan 2013
Two people stand together
Equal inseparable so it would seem
One gave the Other everything
Thinking what’s shared is returned
The Other reserves their self uncaring
The Other took what One gave
Now a thief the Other walked away
And never returned what One gave.

Dreamscape Ragnarock
Luke Kurkowski Jan 2013
My dream has ended at waking
The world I created destroyed
A apocalypse has taken it all
And wiped my happy state clean
I open my eyes to a gray world
Would I could go back to sleep

All that I'm Left With
Luke Kurkowski Jan 2013
Simple pleasures are all I have
They keep me just alive
For friends are not always here
In busy schedules they hide away
And so I turn instead
To newspaper comics and humor
Music dripping with joy
Walks on a certain stony beach
And poetry so coy.

Taking Flight
Luke Kurkowski Jan 2013
I came from the realm where darkness resides
Where from my demons I could not hide.
Sorrow, Anger, and Torment pervaded my head
The pain so strong, so deep, I wished I was dead.
My escape was perfect practically by chance
I ran from my demons while they danced.
Now I live in comfort in a world of light
Where silver shines during black night.
In Happiness, Joy, and Love I now enjoy life
Warmth and delight away from strife.

Simple Tone
Luke Kurkowski Jan 2013
I’m enjoying the simple beauty of sadness,
Much like the doleful tone made by a violin,
Something that pulls at your heart with gentle ache,
And releases it with silent relief.
Leaving your soul with that grace of a ghost,
freeing you from its deep possession,
and letting itself subside.

I do not relate the raging tide of grief,
which would drown the soul in its deluge.
Not of the black shadow of depression,
that consumes and engulfs all the light.
But instead I sit and listen to sadness,
a pitter-pattering emotion like raining,
and wait for the clouds to empty.

Where?
Luke Kurkowski Dec 2012
In Religion belief and faith are found,
In Philosophy questions and enrichment,
In Science theory and advancement
In Disbelief nothing.
Where does the Truth lie?

Happiness
Luke Kurkowski Dec 2012
Drop your scowl and trade for a smile
Cheer for joy and laughter loud
Float on the feeling let it rise
Fly it high and touch a cloud

As it grows share it with others
Let joy strive in the hearts of thee
Hear the song, the call to all
To live, to breath, the sweet mist of glee.

The Truth
Luke Kurkowski Dec 2012
I knew I shouldn't have come this way
and then I thought about going the other.
In one place to think I stay
to stand in the cold that makes me shudder.
I know that warmth is right behind me,
down the other path ready to sooth,
but before me I could see,
the prize I had walked for.... the truth.

Illusions
Luke Kurkowski Dec 2012
Illusions exist to keep order.
They limit the visionaries.
They hinder the Philosophers.
They stop the would be radicals.
They hide the truth.
To be rid of them you are rid of safety.
To be rid of them you are free.

A Poem to a Past Love
Luke Kurkowski Dec 2012
There is no poem
that could describe how,
your eyes shine like silver now.
How your voice rings,
like music clear,
when so ever you are near.
And your smile
like a glowing moon
surely is a godly boon.
With these gifts
that you're endowed,
this poem will gracefully join them now

Desolate
Luke Kurkowski Dec 2012
Have you ever felt bottomless?
Empty?
A void never ending?
Black as night without the promise of morning?
How about devoid, emotionally dry?
The dark gap that reaches inside,
******* away your feelings?
Leaving you without pain, and without joy?
How ravenous that darkness; how gluttonous that hole.
Doomed to feed until it dies and forever leaves my soul.

On a Muse
Luke Kurkowski Dec 2012
Broken heart, shattered in pain but still beating
Bleeding strong like constant weeping
I ignore your pangs of regret and loss
And regard your ache with a frost.
First to stop and freeze the bleed
To examine upon what the pain had to feed
To open up the scars of an old forgotten time
When music from within let out its last chime.
Oh so foolish, the brainless ***** was
To let itself once again to buzz
With these hopes, adorations, love and light.
It was blinded again against its plight.
Allowing these things to permeate inside
It was tricked by its own lie.
That this was it and was here to stay,
Take residence in comfort and forever lay.
Now it sees the harm of such trust
and now in pain, understand it must:
That such investment should never be made to fast
And never, ever expect it to last.
