Starry Skies
Lizzy Luck Oct 2014
Dreams are like a starry night shooting star
For a moment they're here
Until they fade and disappear
Most dreams die right before our eyes
But you and I can keep them alive
Let's bring people back to starry skies
Where we can keep our hopes alive
Soar on wings made of meteor tails
Away from the sunlight
That shows us ways to fail
Bring a pen and paper
Take notes of inspiring things
Like shadows of beauty
Not everything is visible
Stars are washed out during the day
But they linger in the sky and never leave
Our dreams stay in the back of our minds
They never leave unless we permit them to
But we should never let them die
Plant them like a seed into other people's lives
If not we’ll miss them
And we never want to
We need to believe in them to keep our sanity
Together we'll stay alive
Under the starry skies
Follow what feels right
Close connected to our hearts
There’s never a wrong time to start
Chasing dreams can sometimes break us
But I believe it’s worth the pain.

Sitting here in a room with with people suffering a loss
The silence over the room is frightening
It's reality, reminding us that we are not immortal
We can not live forever
death awaits us
Every heart suffers for the loss of something
Something so precious
Life
One that wasn't given long enough it seems
I feel an emptiness inside
The whole room mourns, they need to
All eyes are closed, bloodshot, or emotionless
Truly they can not understand
They know the meaning
But they don't understand the question
Why?
I could continue but words are wrong in this moment
No respect comes from even the most beautiful and poetic words
At this moment, the silence says it all.
My senior year of high school a students died in a car crash. I didn't know him but I had a class with a lot of his friends.

Diamonds to Pearls
Lizzy Luck Oct 2014
Leave me alone in this hopeless world
You can't make diamonds out of pearls
I'm never second best, not first, just dead last
Buying my time that slowly passes away
Don't look at me, I failed you in everything
Breaking what meant the most while people just laughed
All you failed at floats to the top
Showing your weakness and your fault
Give me some hope that I can do something right
Not that all I can do is waste my life
Pollute time and air like I'm the reason it's all going to hell
Waste of skin, of flesh and bone
This empty shell that's all I've known
The closest thing to a real home I've had
Show me a reason to stay in this place
Something that's not easily thrown away
That's all I ask, a reason to live
Something real to hold on to
Someone to accept me for what people reject
An open door to welcome what's left
Where I stand all the doors are closed
This is the view I'm always shown
An outsider looking in
A window, tinted and deformed
From your twisted view of the world
Unlock the door, open up
Show me one person cares enough
To let an outcast be cast in for once
Before the world is completely undone
Give me something I won't forget
Before I'm completely forgotten.
