Hypocrisy
Lizzy Jovanovic Apr 2015
Fictitious. Such a strange word. When fiction is fiction itself.

Please Don't Tell Me
Lizzy Jovanovic Mar 2015
Please don't tell me that you can't,
I know you could if you tried.
Please don't tell me that you're not good enough,
I know how much you truly are worth.
Please don't tell me that you don't want to fail,
You know I'll be here to make sure you succeed.
Please don't tell me you're not strong,
I'll show you how much you've supported the weight of us.
Please don't tell me that I deserve better,
Because is the end, all I need is you.

He was he,
     We were we,
          But without you,
              There cannot be me.

Take A Bow
Lizzy Jovanovic Mar 2015
Life is a play,
The simplicity of the metaphor emphasizes the truth.
Life is a play,
You're decisions can change the genre from Comedy to Tradegy, from Drama to Horror.
Life is a play,
The audience won't know you've tripped up if you do some quick improv.
Life is a play,
Behind the script and the act lies the real message,
Life is a play,
You can either embrace the part you play or whine and be miserable,
Life is a play,
Some people are going to like your character and some aren't but that doesn't change who your character is.
Life is a play,
So take a bow.

You Became Infinite
Lizzy Jovanovic Mar 2015
I trembled as you drew near,
My breath caught in my throat,
I tried to tell myself you weren't ever going to love me.
The simplicity of me,
Compared to the complexness of you.
My heart echoed your name,
As my head shouted "Shut up idiot!"
But as you know,
The heart wants what it wants.
So I am loves fool again.

Reality Came Upon Me
Lizzy Jovanovic Mar 2015
As I was sitting alone one day, reality came upon me.
"Hello." I said and reality replied "Hello."
"Do you remember me?" It asked, sounding hopeful and desperate.
"I remember you were once here with me, but those days are gone. Now I'm blinded and alone."
"What could you be blinded by more than my harsh truth?"
I turned to reality and reality stared back at me. I uttered one simple word.
"Love."

Remembering
Lizzy Jovanovic Apr 2015
I remember the first time I met her gaze,
Her eyes seemed as deep as the Atlantic,
But yet greener than the new grass spring brings.
I remember the first time I made her laugh,
Hearing that was like having an orchestra of angels play Mozart,
Just a little off beat.
I remember the first time she caused me to get butterflies,
Like seeing a child laugh or smile,
The happiness grew.
I remember the first time I made her mad,
The guilt swept over me like an inevitable storm of emotions,
But that couldn't match the pain.
I remember the first time she said she loved someone,
And when that someone wasn't me,
My heart shattered and its parts scattered into oblivion.
I remember the first time she had her heart broken,
Anger ran through me like adrenaline,
So I clenched my fists and held her close.
I remember the first time I told her I loved her,
My hands trembled like a leaf,
And I nervously awaited her response.
I remember the last time she met my eyes,
My heart stopped and so did my breathing,
As she uttered the fatal words.
"I don't love you."

They say home is where the heart is,
But then people tell me my heart is wherever he is,
When the only place I want my heart,
Is with me.

Where did they all go
Lizzy Jovanovic Apr 2015
You know the feeling,
When you want to cry,
And you need to cry,
But the tears won't come.
It's like they've left you too.

Why
Lizzy Jovanovic Apr 2015
Why
Your heart has barely come out of recovery,
The wounds still fresh.
The cut still raw.
And yet you hand it to some new flirt,
Not realizing (or caring) about the damage that may be done.
If you could see past beauty and false personalities,
I'm standing here.
"I won't hurt you." I whisper out.
But you don't hear me.

Would You?
Lizzy Jovanovic Mar 2015
Would you love a girl,
With a smile that didn't reach her eyes,
And you could see how much pain that smile hides.
Would you love a girl,
That was quite to hide her problems,
And even though everybody would ask,
No one but you got them.
Would you love a girl,
Who had huge dreams,
And had an even bigger heart,
That nobody but you can see.
Would you love a girl,
Who's wrists held her scars,
And if you followed those down,
You'd see the same ones on her heart.
Would you love a girl,
Who has dreams about her wanting to die,
Would you love this girl?
And my question is, why?

Fear
Lizzy Jovanovic Mar 2015
It froze me as I looked down to her,
Her cheeks still wet with tears.
She turned away and fear smiled.
"You let me in. Now it's my turn to run the show."
And so I ran with fear.

The Rain
Lizzy Jovanovic Apr 2015
I sit here,
Just listening to the rain.
I wish to God that it was you instead,
Talking about your day, your friends, anything.
But no.
I'm just sitting here.
Listening to the sound of this **** rain.

It's Enough
Lizzy Jovanovic Mar 2015
"Hello."
That was the first word we spoke.
And at that time, it was enough.

                         "I know right!"
When we agreed on something small,
We thought it was so big. It was enough.

                        "Are you OK?"
A slight sign of caring, at a time of when we rarely spoke.
           It was enough.

                       "He gets me, you know?"
         The words shattered my heart
But seeing you happy, it was enough.

"I'm so scared. I don't know what to do."      My anger at him, wasn't as strong as my care for you.
So when I held you close, it was enough.

                     "You....like me?"
Hope and fear mixed in your voice,
When I heard the hope, it was enough.

"I love you. I always have."
The words felt so natural, so right.
And so I hope for us, it is enough.
