insomnia
lisa burke Apr 2012
Lying here in the dark, wondering,
Or am i dreaming?dare i ask
Oh fear not, those are not dreams
Just pondering over another hopeless task
For sleep it deprives me, again once more
Too much activity circling  through my head
Alas, again and again i am up pacing the floor
Whereas its past 2am, i should be fast in bed
Picking a book up, then putting it down
Reading a few pages, my brow starting to frown
Talking to friends, but theyre tired too
But they can sleep, oh i wish i was you
Sleep will bestow upon me, around morning time
Then off sounds the alarm, with its loud shrill chime
Time to dress, another tiresome day ahead
I wish i could rest in my big lonely bed

where are you
lisa burke Mar 2012
Left here wondering, where you have gone
Trying to find out why, or what i have done
Wishing for words, or a hello this way
Feeling the passing of another day
Days become weeks, months are longer
Wondering whether you are, as i'm growing stronger
Looking up with wide eyes, as i hear your name
Do you i ask, do you do the same
I fear not now, as time has passed
But the feelings remain, and do everlast
So the time has come, to give up, and let go
Let life embrace you, let life flow

Cemetary of Love
lisa burke Apr 2012
The sun was shining, but the wind was biting through
whistling past me , making me shiver
I turn away from the wind , as i feel another shudder
But was that the wind, or did i feel another
I spin round to see if anyone is there
But i'm alone, aroundabout me i stare
The paths are golden and bathed in sunlight
Yet the leaves on the trees are rustling in sight
Lots of flowers around, placed with love
Shining stones, some are etched with a dove
Happiness, heartache, tears have all fallen here
And resting forever, is someone you hold dear
A kiss blown back, memories held deep
I will visit tomorrow again, as i walk away and i weep

One Kiss
lisa burke Apr 2012
I looked at you and into your eyes
Seeing the kindness, the fun, the mischievious glint
You looked back, you smiled, you melted my heart
No words were spoken as we just stood there
No words were needed, an embrace we share
As i looked up and you tilted your head
Our lips met together, as a jigsaw with just the right piece
The stirrings i felt, my legs were like lead
Couldnt move from that spot, it felt right to hold on
Still holding, but now you are gone

I sat and watched as you floated down
You delicately landed so gently on the water
Your veins translucent as the water shone through
You are wet, yet still so angelically move
As youre drifting away from me i stare
I stand up, and follow you down the edge of the river
The late sun dancing across the water
Shining through enhancing your colour
I stoop down, and pluck you out of the water
You was that last leaf left on that tree
I think now, i will take u home with thee
