Playing Games
Liam Lockey Jan 2015
The nights are the hardest part,
when my thoughts run wild into the dark
it was weeks and weeks of feeling numb
raindrops fall from my skin, longing for the sun.

It rained all day, I was searching for a reason to stay
And I wish I could remember how it felt before
I don't wanna play this game anymore.

Let the world move on,
while I sing a bitter and broken song.
I was frozen, too scared to run,
so I slowly let the water fill my lungs.

Can you hear the rain falling
Is it my name you're calling?
I wish I could remember how it felt before
I don't wanna play this game anymore.

I'm through playing games
I don't like this game

When will it be over? When will I stop growing older?
I'm too scared to risk it,
not brave enough to admit it
I never wanted it to be like this.
Our youthful hearts, our youthful minds,
just a shadow that's been left behind.

The sun broke through the rain clouds
But I'm too busy staring at the ground,
I wish I could remember how it felt before
I don't wanna play this game anymore.

werewolf
Liam Lockey Jan 2015
you traced constellations on my skin
and asked why i didn't let you in
a celestial state of mind
patientially waiting for a lightning strike
just a robot with skin and bone
and a daydream to call my own

just another werewolf
staring at the full moon

push your lips close to mine
so i can breathe a kiss
summer nights in the city lights
i think i'll be just fine
these ghosts finally put to rest
and another unholy mess

i tremble at the sound of my voice
and figured out i have a choice
so i'll be your werewolf

we can dance, we can sing,
we can do absolutely nothing
distant calls of reality
and your hands are my safety
with you i don't feel so alone
i feel more than a robot with skin and bone

Dead in the Water
Liam Lockey Aug 2013
If we could play pretend
And not go through this again
I would tell you pretty lies
And you'd only be mine

I've been drowning for so long
And finally I'm dead in the water

If only you'd open your eyes
Do you know what you'd find?
We'll smile through our tears
And be able to overcome fears

I'm dead in the water

Everytime you come to save me
You leave me, so helplessly
So I'll watch you swim away
You can save me another day

I'm dead in the water,
Drowning in the sea
I'm dead in the water
Nobody could save me
I'm dead in the water

Mr Moneybags
Liam Lockey Aug 2013
You're flashing your cash like I care
You're flashing your cash like I'm not there
Take your dollars, your euros, your sterling
Because I wouldn't spend a thing
As long as I had you.

You say you'll put it on your card
That your life's never been too hard
As long as you've got money in your hand
But I don't think I understand
All I need is you.

I'd rather have you had no currency
As long as you knew you had me
Because it's not about the amount
It's the little things life's about
And now I don't have you.

Beautifully Depressed
Liam Lockey Aug 2013
They say that it's just a phase
It'll fade in a couple of days
But years have come and gone
Listening to the haunting birdsong
So beautiful they were, such a smile
But they've been hiding it for a while
All of the demons inside of my head
"You're nothing, you're better off dead"
Long sleeved t-shirts and a smile fake
Make sure that nothing looks out of place
How long before they begin to see cracks?
Or maybe they don't think I'd ever do that?
But believe me Mother, I tried my best
You say I'm beautiful, I say beautifully depressed.

Metro
Liam Lockey Aug 2013
I know that look upon your eyes,
As we're waiting in the busy line.
Tell me that it's a big surprise,
But I know that you'll never be mine.

So we'll board this busy train
Glad you'll never know this pain
Just a couple days ago
We were riding on the metro
I'm gonna let you go,
Can't keep holding on.

Just a couple more stops to our town,
As you tell me about your little world.
Can't you see me, that I'm feeling down?
But you're looking at the pretty girls.

So we'll board this busy train
Glad you'll never know this pain
Just a couple days ago
We were riding on the metro
I'm gonna let you go,
Can't keep holding on.

Sing it with your old guitar
Old friend you'll go far
Just another one last drink
So I've got time to think
Make your mind up
Because I've been in love

So we'll board this busy train
Glad you'll never know this pain
Just a couple days ago
We were riding on the metro
I'm gonna let you go,
Can't keep holding on.
