Sometimes smart people submit to their vices to drown out the voices instead of allowing themselves to feel compelled to prove them wrong and change the inner narrative and that's a battle that's never fully lost but it's a trajectory that's harder to reverse as time passes and its a conflict that can only be tough one on one without help from other people or the cushion of externally-derived sensations.
