Similar Souls..
Larry Fowler Dec 2010
He wanders the ethers with abandon
searching, seeking, learning
eyes bright with anticipation
hands clutching an old manuscript
torn and darkened at the corners

He moves, paced and resolute toward a tiny light,
visible only briefly and only to those who share
eternal passion for the quest

His past a raging river of choices
his future, the gentle peace of infinite probabilities
His present, filled with love and hope
cares for him, nurturing his need to give

His moments, garnered from the outstretched arms of similar souls,
lay etched in his heart, deeply cut
with the sharp teeth of understanding
Would that some see and some not

His quest, though filled with moments and days of generous reward
lies fallow with want, with need, for a new sustenance
a similar soul to search and seek the ethers far
to share the joys of discovery,
to revel in its poignant moments

To laugh when, again, the tiny light appears, distant
and talk of things only they understand

A seeker, bound eternal

foundering gently

against rocks of change

arduous dreams

Vanquished

no longer able

to pierce the heavens

with a clarity of heart

Lost amidships, the key

lay hidden by choice,

by fear

bygones

In a world which could not see

could not know

the truth behind windows, etched

and facing darkly within

Lonely point of reference

a reading

of the stars

found at once to be lacking

And more than enough

for a man

versed in wonders

in days

Blindingly brilliant light astern

casting shadows

on lives

finished but not forgotten,

Lost in fated worlds

that followed

burned

into memories too deep

Lit castles of the mind

of the soul, the spirit

resolute

against storms of time

Sacred in living

loving

and the infinite reality

before him

Brought forth the Angels

attending grace, turning out the tides

for the seeker, with freedom

to dream once again...

Folly..
Larry Fowler Dec 2010
Twas darker ‘ere than the depths of dawn

and below

the river kept its pace

toward lands beyond my knowing

Amidst the rocks, still reaching up

toward pain and sorrows, small

depressions filled with crumbled fate

while endless winds kept blowing

As the writhing forces swelled in mighty song,

designed to breach the rise

of struggling hopes and long kept dreams I lay

wondering how I came to be near death beneath these skies

Whose eternal reaches had mystified and drawn my upturned face

through years of lonely quests

to finally meet myself, my spirit

in searing, naked truth

Whose unexplained and beck’ning realms

entranced and bid my journeys

whose captivating, joyous breadth

had loved me since my youth

Yet I’d stayed those rocks through tearing winds

and river’s rage, committed

born of fears and lost in tears

enmeshed in ****** desires

Such folly had I caused my soul

through days and nights of searching

straining past my anguished heart

to stoke those dying fires

Searching..
Larry Fowler Dec 2010
Eyes toward the sky, tentative

hand bringing shade to his face

clouds full with potent moisture, drifting

against the backdrop, infinity’s place

searching for clues to permanence

breath grown quietly still

alert for a message

aware that it could suddenly will

him the answer, through words

his ears couldn’t possibly hear

for only the strings of his Soul

could play so lyrically clear

the loss of his innocence berates him

and screams lest he forget

that time in itself is no remedy

and patience can often be met

with more loss

while sadness in echoing cries

rallies round him in hope of deliverance

then just as suddenly, dies

bedeviled he stands with eyes to the heavens

misty dreams of a path so long ago taken

and into himself he purposefully fell

knowing then that he’d been mistaken

and that life would never forsake him..

Crossings
Larry Fowler Dec 2010
Companion souls we meet again

in venues unexplored

where fragments felt

of days long past, and

remembrances haunt the dreams we see and feel

So close we know at meeting,

memory stirs round the portals

of our history

bright in truth yet dissolute

caught by threaded lines, entwined

A crossing here, a crossing there

first as one

and then

another, awareness

undisclosed, unclear

Our journey’s paths divergent

parallel, yet not

our purpose sometimes known

though not this day when, by choice

we chanced to meet again

I know you cries

my heart, my life

beneath this mask of time

I sense we’ve come once more

to be as one, together

What were we then, what are we now

what will we be

tomorrow

when curtains lift and earthly veils

shall pass, unnoticed

Such questions beg direction

doors of realization

where memories rest

encased

in chambers, understood

Such passion felt for things we know

as past and mutual wanderings

while rapt we stand

learning

of destiny present
