Mama is smart
Because she knows exactly how much a week’s worth of food from Costco is
and she reminds me that every tunnel ends
And fear of the dark is nothing to be ashamed of.

I was born in the summer when mama was 23.4 degrees above the equator
And days were longer than normal

When a star like the Sun dies, it casts its outer layers into space, leaving its hot, dense core to cool over the eons.
Mama is strong
Because this woman can raise babies
But some other types of stars expire with titanic explosions...
And babies take a lot of energy
A supernova can shine as brightly as an entire galaxy of billions of "normal" stars.
And men take what energy is left
Some of these explosions completely destroy the star, while others leave behind either a super-dense neutron star
Mama?
or a black hole -- an object with such powerful gravity that not even light can escape from it.
