Memorial Day
Ky Philbilly May 2015
Freedom isn't free
There is a price to pay
To honor those who gave all
Is the purpose of Memorial Day

Since the Revolutionary War
Many Americans have paid that debt
May we remember their sacrifice
And may we never forget

America's sons and daughters
America's very best
Who laid down their lives
To ensure liberty for the rest

And still today
There are those laying down their life
Sons and daughters of grieving parents
Maybe someone's mom or dad, husband or wife

So as you go into this weekend
It is a time to reflect
On those who have paid the ultimate price
May the memory of their sacrifice, we never neglect

We owe them a debt
That can't be repaid
Keep that in mind my friends
As the ceremonial wreaths are laid.

Just another day?
Ky Philbilly May 2015
Blessed with another day
New adventures to reveal
But only if we live it
Not just as time we have to ****

Make the most of every second
On your face keep a smile
Make it all exciting
Live a life that is worthwhile

You say it's only Tuesday
Just another day of your work week
But anything can be made adventerous
If adventure you should seek

So live today in zeal
Live it for all it's worth
Because you never know my friend
It could be your last ever on this Earth.

Civilization
Ky Philbilly May 2015
Spend a little time out in nature
And upon returning you'll find
Different thoughts and ideas
Coming to your mind

Just as an example
After spending a few nights sleeping under the sky
I came to see how nature is real
But much of our "civilization" a lie

Out where I was at
The air was fresh, the water pure
At home the air is filtered in
And the water, you can't really be sure

Eating from the forest
I knew exactly what I ate
But that stuff from our supermarkets?
What much of it really is, is up for debate.

The more I looked around
At this civilazation of man
The more I knew I had to get away from it all
As soon as I can

From the fake tans
To the artificial light
Against nature we struggle
And to our demise we fight

We change our bodies
And concrete the ground
As if nature is to be stamped out
Where ever it is found

I guess that will never stop
As mankind just can't get it's fill
Just know should I go missing
I've escaped civilization, for that which is real.

Hate
Ky Philbilly May 2015
Hate doesn't need a reason
Only an excuse
And is hard to reign in
Once it is loose

It hurts the hater
Much more than the hated
And will certainly destroy
If it is not abated

It starts out
As such a small seed
But grows very fast
And spreads like a ****

It is a cancer
Pure poison in the soul
Leaving you with only regret
For the joy it stole

It doesn't have to be fatal
There is certainly a cure
But it's deadly if untreated
Of that you can be sure.

Superhero?
Ky Philbilly May 2015
I'm not superman
And way too slow to be the flash
I'm definitely not batman
As I don't have Bruce Wayne's cash

Can't swim good enough
To be aquaman
And I'm too chubby by far
To wear the tights of Peter Pan

I can't be the hulk
I just don't look right in green
Ironman? forget it
That suits way too technical a machine

I'm not your typical superhero
You've never heard of me
But should we ever be attacked by bacon
My super power you would see

I can't leap over a tall building
In a single bound
But I can eat bacon non-stop
Pound after pound

You know it's only a matter of time
Bacon will attack sooner or later
But have no fear dear citizens
For I am, BACONATER!

Moms
Ky Philbilly May 2015
I'm so thankful for my Mother
And the Mother of my sons too
As for our family
They are certainly the glue

They hold us together
Through both sunshine and rain
Through the calm seas and the storms
Through all the joys and the pain

I readily confess
I am blessed in many ways in my life
But no blessings so dear
As the blessing of my Mom and my Wife.

Happy Mother's Day!

Mother's Day
Ky Philbilly May 2015
Of all the blessings
Showered from above
Can any compare
To a Mother's love?

From your birth
For all of her years
She shares your joy
As well as your tears

No matter what you do
Or even what you say
A Mother's love never lessens
In any way

With a love so gentle
That can also be tough
She guides and corrects
For when times get rough

"I spent the best years
Of my life
In the arms
Of another man's wife"

That is a quote
My Grand-pa once said
As he laid
In a hospital bed

He meant his Mom
And I have to agree
As a Mother's love is the greatest
Outside of God's you'll see

So happy Mother's Day ladies
Thank you for all that you do
You truly are a blessing from God
And we love and appreciate you!

Monday
Ky Philbilly Apr 2015
I tell myself early
It's gonna be a great day
This weekend was awesome
Today will be the same way!

The sun's going to shine
The birds are going to sing
Surely only rainbows and roses
This day's going to bring

Ahh, who am I foolin'
It'll be Monday all day long
That day of the week
When things naturally go wrong

I'm truly thankful
Though I feel kind of bleak
This day called Monday
Comes only, but once a week.

Friend Gone
Ky Philbilly Apr 2015
We were best friends
Boys just having fun
But those days are over
Forever done

So many adventures
Imagined and real
Swashbuckling pirates
Damsels hearts to steal

Then fast cars
Driving as fast as we can
Hanging out at the river
Always a Summer tan

Those were good times
Got in a little trouble too
But it was always together
For me and you

You left too early
Way too soon my friend
I was in no way ready
For our adventures to end

Man what a loss
But to me you're still here
As I relive those days
Of adventure and no fear

So many things
I'd love you to see
But in the grand scheme
It just wasn't meant to be

I miss you my friend
Guess I always will
But in my memories
You are with me still

We were best friends
Boys just having fun
You left too soon
Adventures still undone.

My Warden
Ky Philbilly Apr 2015
I've now served 10 years
Out of life with no parole
All due to the fact
My heart she stole

But she is a great warden
Makes me tow the line
Or face solitary confinement
In the dog house as my fine

I have to admit
There has been a riot or two
But she has always done
What any good warden will do

She just looks at me
With that "Really?" stare
And this convict knows
He's approaching the electric chair

And with a cast iron skillet
She is an artist it is said
Be it on top of the stove
Or up the side of my head

But it's not so bad
This "prison" life
When you get to call the warden
Your loving wife.

Grey Hair
Ky Philbilly Apr 2015
Now regarding that grey
You see in my hair
Let me explain
How it got there

Each one was earned
Through battle and strife
And represents enemies slain
And battles won in my life

So before you challenge me
This or any day
Know I still have what it takes
To earn a little more grey.

Light vs. Darkness
Ky Philbilly Apr 2015
There is light and there is darkness
We all choose in which we walk
And our choice is shown
In what we do and how we talk

No gray area between
Just a well defined line
You choose to dwell in darkness
Or where the Son does shine

A world of situational ethics
With no moral absolutes
Is but mankind's way
To justify wrong when it suits

You are free to walk in the darkness
If that is what you will
Just remember you chose that
When you trip and take your spill

As for myself?
As far from perfect as I be
I choose to walk in the Son
Where by His light I can see

Even walking in the light
I might at times slip
But I do not fall
As I remain in His grip

So as the sun rises
And you start your day
Remember it's up to you
Whether in the light, or darkness you stay.

Patriot's Day
Ky Philbilly Apr 2015
This day in history
Subjects to a king
Finally to him said "No!"

A shot rang out
A shot that was heard worldwide
As worlds old and new
Did violently collide

Much blood was shed
Many lives were lost
But America won indepenence
Learning liberty's true cost

Fast forward to today
Tyranny once again rears it's head
In the form of a government
A nanny state from birth 'til we're dead

Overstepping it's authority
The Constitution to ignore
Trampling the freedoms and libertys
Many of us claim to adore

It takes the blood of tyrants and patriots
To water liberty's tree
That was a word advice
From one of the founders, to you and me

I hope that's not the case
But history, truly does repeat
But like the minutemen of old
We must be ready to rise up on our feet

To protect and defend
That which we hold dear
To stand against tyranny
Facing death without fear

We've been given a gift
That came with great cost
And it is solely up to us
If that gift is kept or is lost

It was only III%
That did it back then
A determined III% of us now
Could do it again

What is freedom worth?
What in exchange for liberty will we take?
My friends that's a decision
We all must make

"Give me liberty, or give me death"
Was 240 years ago the cry
I was born a free man
And a free man I am determined to die.

That most solemn day
Ky Philbilly Apr 2015
There are alot of folks think'n
I am bound for hell
That for all of eternity
That is where I will dwell

I don't do the things
They think eternal life does require
They think I've spent too much time
In both the muck and the mire

I don't tow the same line
With which they themselves yoke
I don't repeat the same mantra
Or always hang around the same folk

But I know my God
And I know what He has said
And I know some great day
He will raise me from the dead

And my desire when that happens
Is to only hear Him say
"Well done my servant
Now with me, eternally stay."

"You were a sinner
You did many times fail
But I know you loved me
And I saved you from hell"

I will then be silent
For the first and only time
No witty remark
Not even a rhyme

I will simply bow
And lay any crown at His feet
As all fear and concern melt away
When my Lord and God I do meet

So be careful my friends
Don't be concerned too much
When folks speak ill of you
With their gossip and such

Be concerned only
About what He will say
When you stand before Him
On that most solemn day.

The Walker
Ky Philbilly Apr 2015
For a few years now
I have awaken to the sound
Of my Mom's walker
As she moves around

It rattles a bit
Every time it strikes the floor
Then silence as she pauses
Before moving a little more

Of all the greatest singers
Musicians, classic composers and such
None have ever made anything
I love to hear as much

For I know the day will come
I'll not hear that sound
When she is gone
Never again in this life to ever be found

Though I dread that day
It keeps fresh in my mind
To always let her know I love her
And spend with her all the time I can find

And though that walker's a reminder of her
We all have people in our life
We need to always appreciate
Be it friends, family, husband or wife

For we just never know
When we'll speak to them last
And they will no longer be here
But only live in our past

So take every chance you get
To let folks know that you care
So you don't live in regret
When they are no longer there.

Tomorrow?
Ky Philbilly Apr 2015
Tomorrow I'll do better,
Yeah, then I'll change my way
But less than 24 hours ago
What was tomorrow is now today

Tomorrow never gets here
It's that elusive carrot on a stick
So do today what must be done
As "tomorrow's" just a trick

It's what we tell ourself
To put off doing what we know
But our tomorrow's run out quickly
With us left to wonder, Where did they go?

So today do what's right
Be the best that you can be
For today is what we have
Maybe another tomorrow not to see.

The Present
Ky Philbilly Apr 2015
There is no future
In always living in the past
No matter how good those days were
They were never meant to last

Always looking to the future
Causes you to miss so much
The joys of life
Friends, family and such

It is good to think of the future
And it's good to reflect on the past
But you need to live in the here and now
Because life truly goes by fast

If you woke up this morning
You've been given another day
But it's one of a limited number
Do not let it waste away

The present is just that
A gift you have been given
Get the best out of each hour
In this life that you're livin'

Thankful for everything
With malice toward none
Ending the day with a clear conscience
In all you've said and done

You will find that the present
Isn't such a bad place to be
It is where memories are made
Just try it, you'll see.

Time
Ky Philbilly Apr 2015
Day after day
The gears of time grind
Eventually my friends
To leave us all behind

It stops for no one
Never even slows
No matter what eles
It just goes and goes

At some point we all
Get ground up in the gears
As we have a finite life
Measured in days and years

So it behooves us all
Some of that time to spend
Examining our lives
Before it does end

Did you bring to others
More frowns or smiles?
Did you think only of yourself
Or help others through their trials?

Did you give to others
Or did you only take?
Were you truly yourself
Or did you live your life as a fake?

We all face eternity
And I believe the judgment seat
I want to live in such a way
My true judge, I can happily meet

Attitude
Ky Philbilly Apr 2015
The sixth day of April
Beginning another week of rain
The ground's already saturated
No where left for the water to drain

But I will take this
Over California's drought
Seeing how things are there
Makes me thankful for here, no doubt

That same line of thinking
Applies to much in life
No matter how bad things maybe going
There are always others facing more strife

We all have our burdens
Our troubles and ills
Stresses and anxieties
Dealt some bad deals

But it's all in our attitude
In our troubles do we wilt and die
Or do we grow stronger
Always reaching for the sky

That's a choice we all make
Each and every day
May we each make the right one
I truly hope and I pray.

The Truest Love
Ky Philbilly Apr 2015
What greater expression
Of selfless love could be shown?
What greater love
Could ever be known?

The sinless for the sinner
On the cross to die
Loving even those
That screamed "CRUCIFY!"

Not to mention the scourging
That before took place
Beaten so badly
You'd hardly recognize His face

But death couldn't hold Him
As He came forth from the grave
For those who believe
To eternally save

I know many believe
This but a myth or fable
But not me my friends
For I know, my God is able!!

Spring Thunderstorm
Ky Philbilly Apr 2015
A Spring time thunderstorm
Rumbling through the night
A cacophony of booms
With flashes of brilliant light

It was just such a time
On a dark stormy morn'
So many years ago
That I was born

Maybe that's why
I find comfort in the storm
Seeing the skies darken
As it does form

The rain beating on the roof
All through the night
The loud crashing thunder
Lightning illuminating the night

Don't get me wrong
I love a bright, shiny day
Summer time weather
When we can get out and play

But I appreciate the storms
And the awesome power they show
Reminding me of the majesty of God
Whom I am so glad to know.

Spring
Ky Philbilly Mar 2015
Never a darker time was known
In Heaven or Earth below
When that path up to Golgatha
The Lord and Savior He did go

The sinless for the sinner
On His shoulders they were laid
And in His love and His mercy
The penalty He paid

Nailed to a cross
Lifted up on high
For the sins of the world
He chose to suffer and to die

But the grave couldn't hold him
The stone was rolled away
He conquered death once and for all
On that resurrection day

To me, Spring is a picture
Of that most glorious day
As nature's life is resurrected
From Winter's deathly grey

The vibrant deep green
As the plants begin to grow
The warm Spring rain
Instead of Winter's cold snow

A picture of the resurrection
To me Spring truly has to be
A type of resurrection from the grave
That you and I can see

I was challenged by a friend
To say something about Spring
As I thought of it in sleep
This rhyme is what that thought did bring.

Friday
Ky Philbilly Feb 2015
It was Friday the 13th
But that wasn't on my mind
As I was out metal detecting
To see what I could find

I'm not one to believe in luck
Neither good or bad
I just wanted to dig in the dirt
To see what could be had

I wasn't out there hardly any time
Before I heard that familiar beep
Telling me there was treasure down below
And it wasn't very deep

So I dug a hole
Wondering what it could be
But as I kneeled to inspect it
There was nothing I could see

So I stood to my feet
And scanned it once more
And it showed up again
Just as deep as before

So I dug again
With the same outcome
Searching for this buried treasure
Hoping for a tidy sum

Over and over
I repeated the drill
But the detector showed the same depth
Every time still

I never found that treasure
For my labor, I reaped no fruit
But the lesson I learned was
When metal detecting, don't wear a steel toed boot.

Death
Ky Philbilly Dec 2014
I know the day will come
I'll finally close my eye
My spirit fleeing
As I die

When that day comes
Please let it be
In total peace
Or as I slay the enemy

In peace or battle
I am content
As I count my life
Very much well spent

Just not in between
I beg and plead
When that time comes
And my life blood I bleed

May it count
Is my plea
On that day
Death comes for me.

Trapper
Ky Philbilly Nov 2014
The smoke curling from the chimney
Was such a beautiful sight
As the trapper returned to his cabin
With the last rays of the day's light

It had been a few weeks
Since with his family he'd been
And he was so glad in a few moments
He'd see them again

The kids raced to the door
As he stepped inside
Followed close behind
By his beautiful bride

He loved his life
Being at one with the land
But he knew his greatest blessings
Were those now holding his hand

The life of a mountain man
With the objects of his love
So thankful for it all
To the Lord God above...

Rudolph
Ky Philbilly Nov 2014
With bow in hand
Arrows in my quiver
(After a night in camp
Doing much damage to my liver)

I set out
To stalk my prey
Hoping not to return
Empty handed today

I found my spot
And stopped to listen
As the early morning sun
On the leaves did glisten

Then what to my wondering
Eyes did appear?
Yep you guessed it
A group of eight deer

Slowly and quietly
I drew back my bow
Took careful aim
And let the string go

The arrow found it's mark
A deer hit the ground
As the others ran
So quickly off they did bound

After a few moments
I went to claim my prize
Only to see a shiney red nose
Beneath the now dead eyes

"Oh well" I thought
"I guess it'll taste the same"
So after field dressing
I loaded up my game

Then a fat man
Came crashing through the brush
Coming at me full throttle
A true *** rush

He was dressed all in red
With a solid white beard
Not sure who he was
But he certainly looked weird

Well I took off
At a full run
Not sure what he intended
But guessing it wouldn't be fun

Not sure if you've ever ran
Carrying a deer
But I was desperate
To not let the fat man get near

After awhile
He gave up the pursuit
I got to my truck
Loaded the deer and did scoot

I have to tell ya
That was the best deer I have ate
But something else about it
Truly too is great

I mounted the head
Where I sleep at night
And as I read in bed
That nose casts a perfect light.

I once saw big foot
All tall and hairy
And I tell you friend
He looked pretty scary

Had to be 7 foot tall
And covered in hair
So much you could only see his eyes
With their sinister glare

He had a bad stench
And what appeared to be green teeth
And weighed so much
The ground seemed to sink underneath

He did speak a form of English
Though it was hard to understand
And yes it is true
He had a Slim Jim in his hand

Of course I ran away
I am at least that smart
You just never know what you will see

Crossing the bridge to Lawerenceburg
As the fog is rolling on the river
A real and definite chill in the air
Enough to send a shiver

The woods are all around
The leaves are mostly fallen
Which we all know means
Winter's definitely callin'

There on your left
The old train trestle high in the air
No way I would ever cross it
Even the thought does me scare

Then there's the Wild Turkey distillery
There on top of the hill
The smell of sour mash whiskey
The air around to fill

Crossing the bridge to Lawrenceburg
These are the things that I see
Though I wasn't raised here
Lawerenceburg is now a home to me.

The Facade
Ky Philbilly Nov 2014
You never really know
With what other's are dealing
What demons they are fighting
Or how they are feeling

There are many a smile
Only used to mask pain
As many go through the motions of life
But feel like it's all in vain

I know this is true
I myself have been there
Smiling through it all
But really looking for a reason to care

Then the facade crumbles
And it all comes out
Hurting those true friends
That were with you throughout

No longer able to find solace
In the bottle or any pill
Unjustly lashing out at others
Because of what you feel

A very destructive cycle
Unless that cycle you break
But you can get out of it
If the right steps you take

Spend some time reflecting
And yes, some time in prayer
And that place of darkness can't hold you
No doubt, you'll get out of there

Again, I've been there
We all still have demons to slay
But I know we will make it
If we do it the right way

But as you make progress
Be sure to help others too
Those that are still struggling
Just like you used to do.

Who?
Ky Philbilly Oct 2014
The body so tired
The mind wide awake
Seems that second *** of coffee
Was a most huge mistake

I'm waxing philosophical
Yet have a juvenile mind
One of the most dangerous mixes
You will ever find

I'm thinking the questions
We are conditioned not to ask
And I can't help but write about it
As if it's a pre-destined task

Who are you really?
The sum of what you do?
What you think when you close your eyes?
Who is the real you?

I know who I am
And I'm not at all impressed
But don't get high minded
'Cause I also see through how you've tried to dress

We are who we are
No more, no less
I think we will all be better
When that fact we confess

Just a random thought
From a tired, yet coffee fueled mind
Yet one who has found peace
I hope we all find.

It was so long ago
But seems like yesterday
When I got the phone call
That you had gone away

The river was up
You had fallen in
My dear Brother
I'd never see you again

Though day after day
Night after night
We looked and we searched
Not giving up the fight

But each and every evening
I had to tell our Mother
You couldn't be found
My oldest Brother

Though this side of eternity
Your face I'd never again see
Know you are never forgotten my Brother
As you are a part of me

The day we lost you
Life would never be the same
But my daughter who never met you
Honored you in her daughter's name

It was so long ago
But seems like yesterday
When I got the phone call
That you had gone away...

So enjoy it Wednesday

To meditate and such
Without the world's noise

Even when I can't physically get there
In my mind I can visit it at will

No need of chemicals or a pill

So if you see me sometime
Looking with an absent stare
Know I am down at the creek
In my mind, spending some time there.

The First Hunt
Ky Philbilly Oct 2014
We were in the woods
Even before the sunrise
I remember repeatedly
Trying to wipe the sleep from my eyes

It was my first hunt
Along with my Dad
And I knew in my heart
It would be the best day I ever had

I must admit
Not much sleep was had
As I layed in bed looking forward
To this morning and hunting with Dad

For months on end
Dad had tried me to prepare
And now it was hard to believe
I was acutally with him out there

Dad heard the movement first
And I followed his gaze
As the shape of the Buck
Appeared out of that morning's haze

He had warned me of buck fever
And I felt it for sure
Trembling from head to toe
As if I had a disease with no cure

But slowly and gently my Dad
On my shoulder put his hand
I will never forget that morning
Up in that tree stand

That calmed me enough
And I lined up for the shot
Doubts running through my mind
Could I do it or not?

As I pulled the trigger
I could swear it was two shots that I heard
And looking at Dad he just smiled
And for a moment didn't say a word

Then finally he said
"You got him son!"
And the adrenaline in me doubled
When I saw what I thought I had done.

Looking back I now know
It was Dad that hit that deer
Though he never admitted it
Even after many a year

I'll always remember it
Though Dad now is gone
That very first hunt
That he took me on.

In the Woods
Ky Philbilly Oct 2014
There was a strong wind blowing
That wet and cold Fall day
The first day of Deer season
And to my stand I was on the way

The sun had only just began
To slowly rise
But the path was so familiar
I could walk it with closed eyes

Finally reaching my spot
I climb into my stand
Ready to wait patiently
With bow in my hand

It was so peaceful
Away from the world's strife
As the time passed
And the woods came to life

The chirps of the squirrels
The birds singing their song
Took my mind off the world
And the many things so wrong

Before I knew it
Several hours had gone by
With not a single deer
Crossing the path of my eye

Not getting a deer...
Did I have nothing to show?
For those hours in the woods
When I awoke so early to go?

That is not the case
Because I had gotten the true goods...
The peace and contentment
Only to be found in the woods.

Yearn for the Past
Ky Philbilly Oct 2014
Like an eagle meant to soar
But locked in a cage
So am I and many like me
Trying to live in this modern age

The world is so fast
And complex it would seem
The simplicity of the past
Is to many of us a dream

I don't mean the past
As in 50 years or so
But I mean farther back
A few hundred years ago

And even back then
In a village we would not be content
But would be like those
That out in the wild, their life spent

They lived in the woods
Not just to survive
But it was in that environment
They truly came to thrive

Going in to town seldomly
Only to buy or trade
Then right back to the wild
Civilization to evade

That time is long gone
But that same spirit in many of us is not
And men feeling like caged eagles
Is what we've now got.

The Writer
Ky Philbilly Oct 2014
Living in a shell
Staying on the shelf
Only showing bits and pieces
Of what makes your true self

Almost like a cage
Free only through your written word
Very few understanding
Most thinking you absurd

And that my friends is life
For many that you see
But at least my friend we have
The words written by you and me.

PTSD
Ky Philbilly Oct 2014
Spoke to a near and dear friend today who relayed a story to me, asked me to write something about it, then requested I shared it. Thanks to all of you who do what you must.

I was feeling most light
To start this day
But now I confess
That has gone away

I will reveal things
Some consider dark
And be very frank
Though you may find it stark

I have hunted and killed
The most elusive of prey
Hoping to never re-visit
That final day

And though I bury the memory
It seems to rise from the dead
Once again though as yesterday
Living in my head

The last look on his face
The last living soul to see
The confusion and surrender
His life showed unto me

Not like I had a choice
It was his life or mine
Only one of us would ever see
Once again the sunshine

One of us or another
Would ever again know life
That's how it is
At the point of a knife

One life is ended
Another goes on
Only one of us would see
Another dawn

You call it PTSD
I call it life
Living to tell the story
At the tip of the knife.

Civilizized
Ky Philbilly Oct 2014
I spend the days of the week
Toiling for the man
Working with aluminum and steel
Making a living the best that I can

By the time the weekend rolls around
I've had enough of the concrete and steel
And it's time to get outside
Where at peace I feel

Then I can't help but wonder
How things must have been
For the pioneers of this nation
Those heroic women and men

With just a few sundries
As well as rifle, axe, and knife
They lived off the land
A challenging but satisfying life

Trapping by the river
Hunting in the woods
Gathering with other woodsmen
To buy and trade goods

No cell phone towers
No electrical lines everywhere
Crystal clear waters
And clean fresh air

Then from my reveries
I am jarred back awake
By the sound of man's traffic
And the unnatural noise it does make

Now we are more civilized
Living in city and town
Too civilized to hunt and trap
But adept at gunning one another down

Too civilized to live free
So we let gov't grow
Too civilized for independence
So we let liberty go

Give me a time machine
And I will go back to the past
For I care not for this civilized world
And the very dark shadow it does cast

Checking the trap lines
Down by the river
The cool Fall air
Sending a slight shiver

There was no doubt about it
Winter was on the way
But he loved the mountain man life
And wouldn't have it anyother way

Living in town
Was out of the question
And brought a grimace to his face
At just the suggestion

An 18th century man
In today's modern time
That made no sense to him
No reason nor rhyme

But to each their own
He lived and let live
Slow to anger
And quick to forgive

With his simple life
He was so content
As just living in nature
His life was spent

The mountain man life
In a little cabin in the woods
For that my friends
I would give up all this world's goods.

Bigfoot
Ky Philbilly Oct 2014
I once saw big foot
All tall and hairy
And I tell you friend
He looked pretty scary

Had to be 7 foot tall
And covered in hair
So much you could only see his eyes
With their sinister glare

He had a bad stench
And what appeared to be green teeth
And weighed so much
The ground seemed to sink underneath

He did speak a form of English
Though it was hard to understand
And yes it is true
He had a Slim Jim in his hand

Of course I ran away
I am at least that smart
You just never know what you will see
At your local Wal-Mart!
