Ironic Me
Kristen Kardaras Mar 2013
You know what you want
Then say you don't
You know what to say
Then you simply won't

You know how you think
But constantly ignore
You know how to fix it
But somehow trust became a chore

You know what can't be
But refuse to call it quits
You know how to persevere
But even you fell for those tricks

You know you bend the rules
Yet you know how they all are
You know how to love
Yet your heart seems so sore

You know what you feel
Then think to disagree
You know you should be true
Then you think last of me

You know how to say yes
Yet never seemed to be asked
You know how it's played
Yet you always come in last

You know your confused
Yet you toss reason aside
You know your torn
Yet you refuse to decide

You know what you want
Then say you don't
You know what to say
Then you simply won't

The hardest person to know is yourself.

Ailments
Kristen Kardaras Mar 2013
If the heart is glass, then its bound to shatter
If love is death, then a kiss is its dagger.

If the mind is ignorant, then the soul shall weep
If the body is stubborn, then there's nothing to keep.

Tragedies of Love
Kristen Kardaras Mar 2013
When a heart breaks, is it heard?
When tears fall, is it earned?

When left alone, are you lonely?
When they walk away, are you yearning?

When the hurt comes, does it pain?
When the Love leaves, does any remain?

When the friendship is gone, do you cry?
When the odds are impossible, do you try?

When the body aches, is the soul sore?
When the mind weeps, does it crave more?

When the memories fade, do you mourn?
When the future is unclear, do you go forth?

When faith parts, does it come back?
When Love returns, does it lack?

When the heart tears, does it resent me?
When all is said and done, is Love simply a Tragedy??

Bitter
Kristen Kardaras Mar 2019
Shocking revelation:
Contrary to popular belief, the heart does NOT have your best interest in mind. The heart is naive, foolish and far too spontaneous for our own good. I lobby for the all too cliche term “follow your heart” to ultimately suffer the rebranding of “proceed with caution”. I firmly believe this despite my distaste for its accuracy. My only solace can be found in the notion that knowledge is power and intelligence on this matter serves to protect me from my hearts own selfish and emotionally taxing ambitions. To heal will require time and patience and the unfortunate presence of pain. But to what manuscript of experience do I refer to in an attempt to leash my heart and muzzle its thirst for red herrings of Love?
