Having wings of tremendous speed
Sound entwined with a windless day
I watch as the hummingbird feeds
Can't seem to pull myself away

For this small bird seems overworked
A human's yard is his reward
Where feeders of sweet nectar lurk
Before he continues onward

I don't know from whence he travels
But he is a sight to behold
Like a puzzle to unravel
He appears when nature has called

Kicking myself in the pants
Realizing my coffee is nowhere
I drive back to the department store
Speed is of the essence, as the coffee was expensive
Keeping up the mantra
Almost there, almost there, almost there
I park, get out, only to find
A squashed coffee mug labeled Kriskaia, and a trail

The day you died, you took my heart
You left me many tears
I realized that day, you were a part
Of my hopes and my cheers
Many will say how you turned out
Left naysayers with little doubt
Many will say
Many will say
She knew what she was all about

The day you died, you took my heart
Your boy and girl grew up
Reliving life for the most part
Under your loving cup
They're your biggest accomplishments
Despite their defying torment
They're your biggest
They're your biggest
Treasure, free and very content

The day you died, you took my heart
I now lament your death
For in life you were my spare part
I'll state till my last breath
You've given me so much to share
You taught me how to give and care
You've given me
You've given me
That feeling, I'm walking on air
This piece has just been awarded second place in the contest... Can't believe it! First time ever writing a eulogy, and I was just 2 points shy of first place! Hats off to the judges, and the contest creator Ms. Sarah

The dishes in the sink rattle loudly
The wind howling like the grey wolf
The floors creaking when no one's there
The lights begin to flicker
The shadows move about
Shivers run through me
Someone's watching
The door cracks
Haunted
Night

Waking up to my favorite cereal
You've asked what's its imperial serial

It could be the sweet clumps
And believe me, I've grown my lumps

Its flaky flakes are such a treat
As in the morning, they lift my feet

Its mouthwatering taste
Makes me wake every morning in haste

Those sweet clumps
That give me lumps

Are not my favorite cereal's
Imperial serial

Oh what a folly, I did make
It's the honey covered flake

I stand on the front porch with parched lips
Awaiting your arrival home
Recalling the sway of your hips
I stand on the front porch with parched lips
As you drove away my heart dipped
Thinking of you, out there to roam
I stand on the front porch with parched lips
Awaiting your arrival home

A knight in shining armor
You were once to me
But only to my horror
You turned out to be
A man I once trusted
With all of my heart
A heart that's everything and busted
Not knowing from the start
I tried to protect myself
From all of your lies
And put my heart upon a shelf
Despite your wandering eyes
However I will talk to you
To at least throw you a bone
But if you refuse to listen
You'll wind up all alone
