Think about this truth that I've never said before:
Every day I spend with you will leave me wanting more.

Think about this truth that I'm too afraid to say:
If you were to ask me surely with you I would stay.

Think about this truth that I'm too afraid to know:
If you knew that I love you, you would want to go.

Think about this truth that I'll never say again:
If this does not end well, I'm glad you were my friend.

I wait by the road for your return,
for all that's left is pain.
By the time that you get back,
my tries will be in vain.

The love I gave you now is lost,
the time I spent, a waste.
The words you said at first were sweet,
but leave a bitter taste.

I'll wait by the road for your return,
but time will surely tell.
Think back to the day when we first met,
when your heart for me fell.

Inner demons break the seal,
secrets rip their seams.
What's hidden claws a way outside.
They infiltrate your dreams.

Try. Get them back, futilely, once they start adrift.
The once same world of light and dark now has a wider rift.

The bridge back home is treacherous.
Good luck, no turning back.
I just hope the destination's not the thing you lack.
Feedback? And I'd like ideas for a title.
