No Punctuation
Kirsten Collins Sep 2012
walking as the sun sets spiderwebs cross my path and shine like fibers of time a moth hovers in front of me suspended in the air I walk slowly around it watching its wings flutter in place a man skateboards down the hill smoke trailing behind him like a train I stare the world is amber as the sun sinks in the sky diving into the ocean I walk and the sound of electric symbols like gun shots bring me back to reality an appropriate song for my mood balancing on the curb I notice that the harvest men have come out en mas their bodies the color of the dead grass that grows all around as they wander on their long spindly legs I continue on my sides aching my mind wandering along with my feet I guess I just needed to be out for a bit to have nothing to do no purpose or reason just to wander timeless

Beat Poem
Kirsten Collins Sep 2012
Procrastination
Frustration
The death of a nation
Of words
The death of inspiration
Of thought
Or is it?
Does waiting till the last
Moment
Bring to light the end of
Torment
Where words and thought and
Meaning
Can be experienced and sensed
With feeling
In a rush of rhyming
Emotion
That can reveal a poets
Devotion
To words, phases, rhymes, places
To thought caught between
Metaphor and reality
Simile and imagery
To decide if we should define
Or create
A moment
Of smooth rolling syllables
Or harsh chunky fragments
Of life
Life that so easily gives way
To death
Death being the end or unknown
The unknown being what the
Artist or poet
Longs to capture
But the end
The end being a stopping point
A cessation
A death of a breath of vocalization
The end being
Now

Society
Kirsten Collins Sep 2012
Calm confidence hides
Frantic insecurities
Smile, they're looking at you
Don't slouch
Shoulders back
Are they looking?
Do they care?
Of course
Act like you don't
You are your own world
But does that come off as arrogant?
Don't seem rude
Nose to the middle
Too high is pompous
Too low is timid
You're slouching again
Stretch
Make it look natural and ****
Sit straight
Or lean back
look relaxed
Pay attention
Check your surroundings
No one is here

Morning Mourning
Kirsten Collins Sep 2012
I don't have anything inspiring to say but I will shed a tear for you.
I am not the strongest person I know but I can be strong when you need me to be.

I cry. Often. But you will never see it.

There is so much that I would like to say. Words of wisdom, compassion, love, pain. Full emotional turmoil. Yet, I have no words.

I can tell you that you will make it. That you could hurt more than you do right now but it would all just be me trying to convince myself that in the end everything will be alright.

I will do whatever you need me to. I will give my life to you. After all, I know you're worth it. I will support and help those who need me.

What am I?
Who am I?

I am a rock. I am there for others to hold on to. For others to stand on. I will lift you up out of the raging river.

And you will take pieces of me with you. For that extra support when you need it. Safe, knowing you will always have that piece.

And I will slowly wither. Giving myself to others. Becoming a memory. A little bit of security.

For how do you comfort a rock? How do you love a rock?

I can only hope that I become sand soon enough to find a body of water to love me.

My Men
Kirsten Collins Sep 2012
The rise and fall of my life
The reason for my being
I haven't run because you are here
The only one who tames me and claims me
I'm yours

The sweetest man a girl could want
I am in no way attracted to
An eternal friend
Without even a possibility of more
Somehow personally sad

Young and dark in air
Romance blooms internally
A shell of sarcasm, dark humor and wit
Covers the warm, sweet tenderness underneath

How does one speak to the animal?
Looks, pets, scents
The will to be free he calls to me
But in truth we know it never will be

The purity innocence and kindness
I hope it lasts
How one can come out of something broken
Even more pure and whole than those who have known no wrong
Continues to amaze me
Kept safe or killed is your fate

So sweet and innocent
Some would never say
They do not see what I see even in your "lust"
Play is truly your way

A gentlemen true
We are not always lost without you
It is sad to say
We would not want you to change
But we cannot always protect you from you

One who steals my words
Writers Block its true
The embodiment of confused lust and rationalized morals
Love broken with distance
Yet we continue to love you

The Laughing one
Always quick with wit and jest
Me you always impress
If only emotion flowed as freely from you
As I know it does from me

Light and pure as gold
Soft and new as fresh silk
A look so tempting
Words cannot express
The breath seemingly wrenched from my chest

A smile reaches the eyes of us
Both upon the sense of each other
All hope will return
Darkness to Grey
Whenever we meet
My brother

Old Blood
Kirsten Collins Sep 2012
What do you think of me?
With blood in my teeth
Do you think me cruel?
That I can take the life
of beautiful things
I don't torture my food
A clean **** is something to be proud of
I am responsible for my meat
I understand death as a part of nature
I will accept it when it comes for me
as most other animals do
No. None of us lie down easy
Of course all try to survive
But I will curse nothing when I die
My energy will go on as the deer,
the fish, the rabbit's does
We are one.
So don't look at me as a destroyer
of beauty
a taker of life
Death for one means life for another
A cycle of balance is necessary
And if you are still appalled
think on this
did you know carrots scream
when you rip them from the earth
what do you think of me now?
