Just a Poem Challenge...
Khadi Alza Jan 14
I was pulling out my hair,
I just wanna shine!
So put on your war paint.
I had a dream so big and loud,
That somedays you're the only thing I know.
I paint my face with glitter in the morning light,
'Till I saw blue-haired boy.
Hey,
It's cruel you know.

You
Khadi Alza Jan 21
You
Soft, dark ringlets,
Scattered across your brow.
Your hands covered in trinkets
And holding a soft linen gown.

A crooked smile on your face
And deep dark eyes ablaze.
You, with the tie of lace,
The greatest thing to gaze.

We're Just Friends!
Khadi Alza Dec 2024
I laughed as you asked me if I and that guy are together.
I had to wipe the tears from my face when I said, "No, we're not together.
Never, ever in a million years.
We're only friends, not lovers."

You said we're a perfect pair,
Well, put that thought back into your hair,
'Cause the both of us are just friends.
We're not gonna follow the trends,
And suddenly be each other's 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞-𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧-𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬.

I know I sometimes call him cute
When I see his hair ******* and dressed in a suit,
But I mean it platonically,
Not romantically.
Plus, he likes another girl,
And I another guy.
That's why you'll never catch us together,
'Cause we don't like each other.
Well, not in 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 way.

You still think we'll end up together,
Like those romance novels you read since forever.
But I can assure you,
Those dreams will never come true.
We're just friends.
Why ever would we be lovers?
they really think we're a match, but we're just FRIENDS

In My Lows
Khadi Alza Nov 2024
I blink,
Is this real?
I blink,
I hate this deal.

I blink,
I wonder what they think.
I blink,
I'm gonna sink.

I blink,
I hope it doesn't spread.
I blink,
Is it just in my head?

I can't hold it anymore,
So off it goes,
Flowing forevermore,
Tears when I'm in my lows,
Flowing in the shore
Of what I call, my imagination.

The Game
Khadi Alza Oct 2024
My legs feel numb,
And I feel dumb,
Standing here in this field,
Having to deal
With all these feels.

With their swift feet
And agile feats,
Who couldn’t possibly smell defeat?

I try and try,
But wonder why.
Am I not good enough?
Am I not as tough?

In defeat,
I watch their incredible deeds,
Like their beautiful leaps
And graceful twists.

I watched them for a while;
Oh, what style!
The way they caught it—
A perfect fit!

Then one of them noticed me.
It was a boy, you see.
He smiled at me—
Oh, what a sight to see!

He invited me along,
And before I thought for too long,
He tossed me the disk,
And I caught it between my fists—
Oh wow, it fits!

I tossed the disk into the air
To God knows where,
But he caught it in midair,
And now my mind sounds like a fair.

I did it!
I did it!
I did it!
I actually did it!

I pumped a fist into the air,
And of course, I added a little bit of flair.
I prepared my stance,
Ready to dance this metaphorical dance
And do my very best
With a little bit more zest.

I guess I learned a thing or two—
I should never, ever put people on a stool
And think I'm so bad
That everyone who walks by would gag.

Instead, I should have fun,
Under this warm sun,
With the breeze blowing by,
And my team by my side,
Who make me feel good inside.

Just A Rant
Khadi Alza Jan 14
I stepped foot in the bookstore,
Shelves upon shelves filled with books.
I ran to explore
The books pretty looks.

One caught my eye,
The one I always wanted!
But I can't lie,
It's pretty expensive, and I feel like the price is haunted!

But I bought it anyway.
I wouldn't skip a chance to leave it alone.
I ended the day,
With purchasing a book I've always known.

I flipped it's delicate pages,
It's smooth texture rubbing against my hands.
With words that can make me waste ages,
And making me want to stay in that land.

A good read I must say,
But...

I found the same book online.
Although it had some tears,
The price was quite fine.
It could save me a ton for years.
An offer I could not decline.

Arghh!
If only I bought that one instead...
Oh, well.
The book was trial of apollo btw, if anyone was wondering
When I’m not there,
Would someone care,
And notice that I’m gone?

Would someone think of me?
Miss me?
And if so, who?

Would someone do anything just to hear me,
With that voice like the waves of the salty sea?
Would they stack a gazillion files,
Just to reach me on my mountain to see my smile?

Would someone’s chest be an empty black void,
And feel like they’re being toyed?
Cause I’m gone, not there,
For them to smile at and stare.

And when I'm there,
Which one of them would care,
And have a glow so bright,
That could light up the darkest night?

But who?
And if there was someone,
Would I think of them like that too?

Tick-tock
Khadi Alza Dec 2024
Tick-tock, tick-tock,
Now I am in my bed.

Tick-tock, tick-tock,
But my world spins, and now I’m in a hall of red.

Tick-tock, tick-tock,
Now flowers filled with stories start to spread.

Tick-tock, tick-tock,
All of this might just be in my head.

Tick-tock, tick-tock,
My body feels as numb as lead.

Tick-tock, tick-tock,
The year felt so fast, yet so slow, you said.

Tick-tock…
Tick…tock.

Feathers
Khadi Alza Jan 7
Two friends sat together,
In a field full of feathers.
One as sweet as a berry,
The other ever so cheery.

The two were very close,
And both thought that mice were gross
Having seen one on their toast.

They were like peas in a pod,
Some thought they were odd.
But they didn't care.
They'll just give them a stare.

But one day,
That all changed.

The two never joke.
Actually, they never spoke.
Not even a glance.
They're not gonna take that chance.

But the field is still there,
Now it lay bare.
The white feathers gone,
Leaving a thin yellow lawn.

The Tragedy of Loving
Khadi Alza Oct 2024
They were together
In what seems like forever,
Chatting and flattering with the other
While looking at each other with wonder.

But the other two stood far away,
A train of thought on their way.
"Why, oh why?" they say,
On this very day,
Together they stay
Far, far away,
Wanting to be swayed by the other?

"Am I not good enough?," one asks.
"Was it not obvious?," says the other.
When I'm around, does her heart not flutter?
And when I'm near, does she not stutter?

What does it take for him to notice me?
Do I have to be as impressive as a tree,
With its strong roots gripped into the ground,
Holding up something so profound?
They asked each other out of their misery.

Do they feel what I feel?
See what I see?
Or... is it just me?

The two looked at each other,
Then back at their two beautiful lovers:
One with a heart of gold,
And with a sweet smile that never grows old;
Another with his signature grin,
That never fails to pull some strings.

As their lovers were talking to each other,
The other two wondered:
Will they ever be together with their lovers?
Or were they never meant for each other?

Did fate have other plans?
They hope not.
They were sure they belonged to their lovers,
If only they were together.
Based on the situation my friends are in

L!
Loser, Loser, Loser.

You asked me why I felt that way.
That hatred I felt towards you the other day—
It’s not you; it's me.
But maybe it is you.

It's me because I have my suspicions.
For some reason, I think you’re malicious.
But not in that way.
I just think you're a sore loser.
So please go away.

It's you because of the things you do.
It makes me want to go and puke.
Plus, I'm scared.
I hope you don't feel what I think you feel.
If you do, I'm dead.

And here you are, asking me why.
Just go away, will you?

Loser, Loser, Loser.

Paper
Khadi Alza Jan 13
I guess we're like paper.
The handmade ones I mean.

Before that, we had a sheen,
We were a large empty sheet.

But sometimes we've broken down
Into useless little pieces that would make one frown,
And can't find a way
To fix ourselves in less than a day.

But you can't just tape paper
When it's ripped by life's alligator.

You have to make something new
With that familiar thing, you once knew,
And mix it up with unfamiliar things,
So you can give that paper some zing.

Now it's something new.
No longer the thing you once knew.

A thing with a past,
That if stood alone, would not last.
The newlyweds stood next to each other,
Smiling widely as they finally came together.
Fingers entwined,
As their thoughts unwind,
Of how strong their love is for one another.

But far away,
By the cake display,
There stood their friend,
Who had attended, but otherwise pretended.

As she watched, her thoughts went wild,
But she managed to put on a bittersweet smile.
She's happy for them,
Together they shine like a stunning gem.

But she can't shake it off,
The feeling that made her go soft,
When she realised she would never be like them.

Never,
Ever,
In
A
Million
Years.

Well, that was before he came along.
He came into her life pretty strong,
His laughs as sweet as a song,
And when she laughed along,
It was the greatest singalong.

Bittersweet Time
It’s crazy how a moment with you,
The ones that has no rhyme or tune,
Can turn into a memory.
And how that happens is a mystery.

One second we were in the moment,
And the next I could only lament.

— The End —
