you

you
You are Banana Pancakes
You are Sunday mornings
You’re the cool afternoon
Breeze that whispers to me on an August day
You are the journey back to times
When fears were absent
When I knew nothing more than the one moment I was in
You are the present and the place I want to be
You’re all the stars in the sky, melting into my soul
You are a cup of sweet coffee sitting before me in the beginning of a new day
You are the song I replay as I drive with the sun in my eyes and a road trip
That I am finally able to take
You are the crisp new pages of a book I’ve been awaiting
You’re the excitement swelling inside me as I think of better days
You are the lights on the city skyline and nights downtown listening to bands we've never heard of
You're the cafe I pass by but never go in and the people in the bookstore I'll never know
With their faces red like roses, falling in love with strangers like them
You're the melodies I create with my new guitar and the words that gently touch the depths of my heart as they glide onto a white piece of paper
You are

yearning
Kenzie Skye Jun 2014
I can never reach it
When you are there
You always decide
To pull my hand back
Even though I told you
Quietly, that I need it
I can wait no longer
But all we do is wait
We are left in the dark
With no lanterns or candles
I never know where you are
Or if it is even you
I never know what you say
Or if you are speaking to me
I learned your name just last week
But there is something more
That I reach for
I expand my hand
Yearning
But you always decide
To pull me back
When you are there

scent
Kenzie Skye May 2014
the scent of your skin
the feel of your body
your lips on the back of my neck
wrapped up in your arms
as if  I never existed elsewhere
like you’re the only person I’ve ever known
soft aromas and rustling sheets
and a space of the world
only we know

temporary sunsets
Kenzie Skye May 2014
It’s a funny thing
The imaginary sunsets
Spiraling their way into my heart
Another sip of coffee
And a certain song on repeat
A cool breeze caressing my mind
And for a moment
I experience the happiness of a lifetime
There I am in that moment
With my heart beating along
To the caffeine in my bloodstream
And there I am in that moment
As happy as I’ll ever be
Temporary sunsets
And cool ocean breezes
