I am thankful to have met you
But being thankful is not enough,
You've taught me more than patience
You've taught me the undreamed of.

You've shown me what family really means
That it's not about just blood,
There is more to family than a pedigree,
There has to be some love.

You taught me to express myself,
That it's okay to shine,
To share how I am feeling
Means I won't burst in time.

You always seem to get it out of me
Even if you have to pry,
Because I trust in you
My fear seems to sublime.

I'll love you until the end of time,
Until Pearl jumps over pigs that fly,
Until my favorite color becomes the one that flourishes in your cheeks,
Until my heart does not beat.

So thank you for tolerating me,
For sharing who you are,
Family is a powerful word,
And now I know why.
