Poetry

is
you
calling me
lovely
and your skin
kissing mine
as we lay
in your bed
naked and safe
from the world

Flowers
Katie Nederhoed Nov 2012
I realized today that if
i want the ache to leave
i must rid my chest of your garden
on my own, ***** your help
i picked every flower you planted,
they had begun to wilt without you,
i threw them in the river
so they would float back to you
taking all my memories with them.
I planted my own flower,
one lovelier than anything you could
ever cultivate inside my chest.
It's the flower of acceptance, letting go,
and the hope of one day igniting
my soul again with another flame.

A few words from you
and I am reduced to tears
I am okay when you are gone
but the moment you return
my strength is drained
and I'm back to the
cracked open little girl
who is starving for
another glimpse at your soul
you are lovely in ways I cannot
begin to fathom or comprehend
even if you are full of not
so lovely things as well
and the words you say mar
what would have been a precious thing.

I've got this longing to sit
and speak with the boy
who bleaches his hair
and writes poetry with
such beauty, I'd like to dig
into his mind and find
all those secret things he
keeps hidden inside.
Could we maybe share
our souls and mix them?
Hold hands for awhile,
make new poems from
the tangle of his soul
and mine.

there is wind in my body

fueling the fire of my soul

i am burning up losing myself

inside my thoughts

everything is a blur lately

i go from one day to the next

locked in the warm haze of

my own mind, i often forget

to be a good person and

take time for the people i love

i am a dreamer, locked up

in  my head always two steps

away from everything else

A million heart
beats around me and I would
**** to hear just yours.
