It Storms
Katie Lawrence Jan 2015
It storms as if

Mother Nature

Knows, Feels, Expresses

My own feelings

Drowning in tears

That fall, like raindrops

Hitting the earth. Causing only

Sadness with the numbing grief

Thunder booms, as loud as I

Cry out. As If, in competition of

Suffering or Pain

Lightning flashes, and all goes dark. And I

Do nothing but wait.

Wait to be struck, brought back

By life and Mother Nature's Wrath

you
Katie Lawrence Jul 2014
you
Wish I could tell you what's on my mind
But there are things I just cannot say
That through it all you are one of a kind
Or that you always brighten up my day
Your smile bright makes me go weak
Your eyes gleaming like the moon in the sky
When we talk I hardly find the words to speak
There is not doubt you are my perfect guy
The one that always makes me feel complete
With your touch, what more can I desire
These words I wish I could tell you and more
And how you can make my heart soar

My sanity comes in doses
Small capsules
Confined within a capped bottle
Until it's opened
And is all spilled out

What you think
Katie Lawrence Jan 2014
You think you got the best of me
You think you tore me down
But what your eyes fail to see
There are no tears for me to drown
Why do I keep defending you
For all those things you did
While all my feelings for you were true
And you ran away and hid

Snapdragons
Katie Lawrence Jan 2014
Nestled beneath a bush so snug and warm
Waiting for the light of day
The little snapdragon sits so torn
While the fairies with the roses play
She wishes she could be like them
So free and full of light
She watches as their glow comes near
But then it's gone and out of sight

Touched by the Devil
Katie Lawrence Jan 2014
The air was cold that night
Our breaths thick between us
Like the clouds forming above
I shivered, letting you draw me in
My skin burning hot from your touch
Raindrops fell around us
Making me ****, wincing in pain
As the droplets hit my arms
Sizzling and turning to steam
Discomfort and unease filled my mind
As I looked at you for the first time in a different way
But that smile that played on your lips just pushed it away
I placed my hand within yours
And it was as if I was shaking hands with the devil in disguise
I let you lead me down your path
Only to be left alone in the dark
I was not afraid
There were no tears pooling in my eyes
My pride fought hard to stay afloat
And now I'm just making my way down my own path
I just wish I knew then, what I know now

Parted
Katie Lawrence Jan 2014
When we two parted
In silence and tears
Half broken hearted
Memories of the years
Pale grew the cheek
Lips bare with no kiss
The days that followed
Sorrow to this

Take me back
Katie Lawrence Dec 2013
If I had enough time
I'd want to relive that night
Where we stood under the moon
As the crisp air bit at our noses
Where you grabbed me in for warmth

No words were said
But we knew what one another was thinking

You leaned in as our lips met for the first time
And I could've sworn we'd never run out of time

No Matter
Katie Lawrence Dec 2013
No matter which way I look
No matter which way I go
I feel that you are with me
A feeling I long to show
Our love is like nature around us
Together we are one
You are the rays that surround me
When I am burning like the sun
You are a pile of leaves
That catch me when I fall
I am a lonely raindrop
And you singled me out from them all
No matter which way I look
No matter which way I go
I feel that you are with me
A feeling I now know
