Dear time,
Oh how you seem to fly by
When I look into the eyes
Of my dear old grandfather
Throughout my whole life,
He keeps ticking away
At times he is fast as Usain Bolt during the Olympics
But at others he drags along,
Like a kid with a backpack full of homework
When I get to the end of the road
I will look back on how great my grandfather was,
And reflect on all the things I could've done with him.
But now I still have my time with him
And I will make every second last
-Katelyn
I made 2 because I have a couple lines I could change and I wasn't sure which I liked better.

Nervous is a purple pencil
As you're sitting down, about to take a test
You have trusty ole purple pencil
To help you do the trick
Jitters kicking in, you want to go home
But finish the test, take your best pick
Don't worry you can do this, you are not alone
Just try not to get sick

Dear grandfather,
I watch you age before my eyes.

Every time that I sit down
I try to focus and concentrate
But something always catches my eye
Distracted is my middle name
It tends to take me double the time
I usually say goodbye to my free time
Constant nagging from my mom
Just to get something done
When asked to write a paper
I always draw a blank
Continually staring at the sheet
But never finishing any sentences
Trying so hard to get something done
Leaves no time for any fun

To smile is such a simple task
It could happen when in the sunlight you bask
Nowadays they seem almost extinct
in a world filled with depression and sadness
People believe happiness is overrated
Although I know a way to bring it back..
Musical birds chirping
Ferocious waves crashing
Serendipitous people singing..
                                      dancing..
                                      enjoying the company of others

         Just Smile

It's the calm after the storm
The rainbow shines in a bright arch.
Through the blue sky so clear,
It looks as though it could go on forever
Raindrops sit on top of the leaves so delicately,
That even a step nearby could cause them to fall
The air is moist as a perfectly cooked chicken
All the birds come to life at once
As if they had just been relieved from the dunce
The earth seems as fresh as just cleaned sheets
What a wonderful world for the home bound people to meet

The chilling winds flow
As the birds bask in the light
Of the beating sun
