Open the door.
Step into the light of the world
and smile in the sun of renewal and rebirth.
Breathe in the breeze drifting through the blue
     And prepared to jump
Onto a path yet lightless and shadowed,
shying from travelers' eyes.
Into a river flowing fast and full,
its cool fingers unduly joyful and alive.

Through a star's shine and gloom
there burns a wish on the lips
and fingers hold limp on the handles
of pathways held in darkness.
Forever burns the flame idle
until the candle is melted and decayed;
until the mind and body show its reflection.

Open the door to the world.
Open the door to the life meant to live.

This Rose
K L Anderson Nov 2011
For whom does a rose blossom?
Is it for its own purpose - to show the world the beauty that it holds, and boasts of its lively, youthful color? Or is it a selfless deed - to give persons with sadness of heart the reflection of the beauty of Earth and all its joyous things?
It is this, I believe, which is true.
For one so beautiful and tranquil cannot honestly hold a hint of selfish want. You are a rose, and the rose is likewise -
The one and the same.
Your smile and laughter is the blossom to the world. Your gift. Your love.
As beauty holds you a slave to the eyes of humans, you stretch far beyond these stereotypical limits and produce warmth and grace to every welcome soul.
For surely Heaven was shaped for such a one as you, to share a gift few possess and relinquish it freely.
The rose has found its adversary, and it is in you that I will boast.

The Wood
K L Anderson Nov 2011
I stumble on the ground beneath my feet.
What lies ahead I cannot beat.
The lies, the flair, this oppressive air
Unhinges my nerves and blinds my stare
And tosses me back to worlds unknown
Full of dark shadows and whispers blown.
The berating of limbs and sinking ground
Entangle me whole and push me down
Till darkness is all I see.
No more will Light be my master's key
With which to open my mind and clear my soul
For those thoughts and deeds that once took hold.
Somewhere down this darkened stream
I take hold of firm root, it may seem
Only to be ****** within my chest
Freezing my heart along with all the rest.
No more to see, no longer to stay
My breath is caught fast as I slowly float away.
