Apart
Justis Reyes Apr 2010
You're so close, I reach out and touch your face.
But am I really reaching you?
I embrace you tightly, your warmth flows through me.
But are you really feeling me?
Gazing into your eyes my soul becomes lost, as I drink of their beauty I find peace.
But are you truly looking at me?
We are so close, yet I feel we're drifting apart.
My hand holds yours.
My lips meet yours, my heart begins to sing and soar.
But is my heart reaching yours?
Has our relationship become nothing more than leaves falling in the wind? As we fall the winds of fate bring us together for a brief moment, only to separate us.
We slowly drift apart.
I want to know! I want to know that my feelings are not calling out to a frozen heart.
Burn brightly for me!
Do those eyes, that shine brighter than the sun, hold hope for me? Hope for the flame of love to burn brightly within you.
Has my tender affection reached you?  Has my love reached you?
Or are we at the end of our rope,
like a delicate thread, are we coming apart?

Searching Through the Woods
Justis Reyes Feb 2010
Searching through the woods
Running faster, on and on
Searching for something.

Looking, searching. Why?
Desperately running, running
No rest no peace, ever

Struggling onward
Through the dark, through the unkown
Will I ever find it?

Rush
Justis Reyes Apr 2010
The world flies by you, all within a blink.
Hold on while you can.
All the little things in life quickly sink.
****** away by time,
Carried away quickly the river flows on.

So Far Away
Justis Reyes Jul 2010
As I sit here, away from what was, my mind runs back to the memories I had left behind. As I try to move on, my heart remains engraved with your image. Only Time can wash away the sorrow and  joy that remains like a scar in my heart.
Desperation is the thorn of all men.
I would not wait for Time's gentle hands to ease my soul, so I ran. I had gotten so far away and yet, you were so close. Your scent, your touch, all of it remained chiseled onto my heart and engraved in my soul. You haunted me. You were my painful addiction. Fueling my emotions with passion only to smash my ecstasy with your cold words. I had traversed the highest mountains, crossed the deepest rivers, and wandered through the hottest deserts to keep my heart away from you. I had made it to the edge of the earth, but my heart always ran back to you.

Only Death in its subtle embrace eased my betraying heart.
