Look at me
Look at me. Look at me now with my wings opened wide in full spread.
Without the shackles that you bound onto me like earthen casts onto dread.
The turmoil that I have been through shook loose like the molting of dead feathers.
I gave you power over me but now no more; no more locking me down with you emotional tethers.

Look at me. Look at me now that you have broken me down but not succeeded in killing my spirit.
Every lash of the whip like a brand new lesson that I will learn; for they will only serve to give me merit.
A thousand miles away and you still wrapped your fingers around my neck and I said enough, enough, I had enough.
I'm done with the cruelty that I imposed on myself when all I wanted to do was to be happy and perhaps even laugh.

Look at me. Look at me now as I regain the strength I lost when she came in and cluttered the skies with a false brightness.
Like a mirage that faded, it was only an eclipse but you chased after it even when I warned you about your blindness.
I'm done being shadowed; never coming into light because you said you loved me and chase me away in the same breath.
Never giving me the chance to heal, each day I stood up, you'd find a way to strip me till I had nothing left.

Look at me. Look at what you gave up because you didn't have the decency to mean the words you say.
I still don't wish bad things upon you because at least I know what is the truth, and the truth is that you still have a long way.
But I'm done with anger and I'm done with sorrow, I'm done pretending that I am worth nothing more than what you gave me.
Tonight I am liberated like an angel, unburdened by the weight of the world and tonight, I am finally free.
