A Hectic Afternoon
Julee Lennox Jul 2012
How could I have known,
Where I would be now.
Shaken, tired, alone--
What I would allow.

Always softly dreaming,
Of paper and the books.
The quiet way I'm screaming,
From only ***** looks.

Empty promises and broken dreams.
My meager earnings:
For charming schemes,
And animal yearnings.

Awash a lonely beach,
Tempered by the world.
Amazed of my own reach,
Like a hurricane unfurled.

Now, gone is neutrality,
Along with strife.
Embrace my reality:
Your love, my life.

I wait, for what's worthwhile,
With a packed suitcase.
For you are an outrageous smile,
That spills across my face.

On a hectic afternoon,
My only solace.
Finding the missing lune,
And gaining purpose.

Mere Memory
Julee Lennox Aug 2011
Behind void smiles, hide penitent secrets.
An undisclosed sorrow never to be erased.
The lies, the thoughts, every regret.

Life used to be enchanting,
Existing solely for fun and games.
Now my only concern is surviving.

I think of you continually, my angel.
Forgive me for things inconceivable.
I miss you, my darling.

I wonder who you would’ve been.
What you’d look like,
Would you be like him?

A daunting lesson in measure,
Yet, the glimmer in tired eyes.
Gone is pain, down with pleasure.

No longer do I love too fast.
Because you’re just a mere memory,
Wandering through my past.

Untitled
Julee Lennox Aug 2011
Sudden darkness crashed into perfect dreams,
A life forgiven.
Lost in the shadows of hidden schemes,
A love forgotten.

Awoken by a million cries,
Regret, relax, give in.
Quiet dreams drenched in lies,
Regret, relax, give in.

Speechless, beyond words,
Paralyzed, beyond moves.
In shock, I've hit harder floors.
In the end, destined to lose.

Love me, but not for you.
Leave me, I'm not for you.
I have to go, please don't cry,
We both know I'm not for you.

J'adore
Julee Lennox Aug 2011
I adore you,
But I don't know what you're about.
I dream of you,
Bon reves, cheri.

When you asked me,
A glimmer of relief.
Exactly what I was talking about;
I thought it might be a cruel hoax.

I fell so hard,
You knocked me down.
The forbidden romance,
Tender sentiments hidden all around.

He made me smile.
A tired life, now shaken.
No longer in denial,
We've had our run.

A vulnerable heart lies broken.
I can't believe it's true.
Is there nothing unspoken?
In three frantic words, I've lost you.

I can't quite see right now,
But I'm compelled to write.
I lie down, and feel you pull me,
Into the deepest, darkest night.

You draw me in,
Everything leads to you.
I breathe, (breathing begins)
I still miss you.

You turned.
A summer lost,
A winter learned.
At what cost?

Before him,
She couldn't sleep or dream.
Haunted dreams and starry nights.
Life began.

A whispered affair; wine, cigarettes and fear.
He taught her to adventure in dreams.
And awakened her mind to her own creativity.
She made him feel again.

They lost each other through hard decisions.
She continued.
He moved on.
He still quiets her mind.

For the first time tonight,
She didn't think of him.
The inevitable step in some direction,
In one's path not taken.

Your Mission
Julee Lennox Aug 2011
She's the beautiful one.
Wears Versace and French inhales myrrh cigarettes.
Behind blinking veils lies the sun,
While in her eyes, your mind forgets.

Never miss a glance,
Denounce mere recognition.
An eager chance,
Herein lies your new mission.

Tempt her senses,
She's unprotected.
Take down defenses,
Now you're connected.

She doesn't think, she dreams.
All she does is disappear.
Nothing is as it seems,
Your whole world, again unclear.

Tender last words spoken,
Dark nails red on fragile hands.
Another dream broken,
The chemical disbands.

This (and you)
Is (are) her gift.
And this (and you)
Is (are) her curse.
