So you want to be saved
You need to clean up your act
Your lewd crude behavior
My favorite snack
I love the smell of vulnerability
Welcome to the Church Of Misery
The misbegotten downtrodden
Empty your pockets
Show me your worth
I will take you down
Through my gates
But first
Bring me your wife
You're so far gone
Then I'll take your life
My home is quite ornate
With gold guilt you've given away
I'm full eating your sins
Time for fresh meat
So come on in
Evil hides in the most curious of places, disguised in all walks of life.

In the darkest of blue
Looking out on my patio
Through old vertical blinds
The umbrella is in disrepair
along with six weather beaten chairs
Things are different now
Under quarter moon's fraction
To drown the sound of quiets
Intrusion
I go to my computer and type
All I hear is the tapping of my fingers
As they hit each key
Wishing you were next to me
Through my cloth to my skin
The evidence is clear
You've left your imprint
Of love shared
In this space
Like wearable art
To be seen
To be felt
Inside folded pages
Of love letters hidden
Collective thoughts
You make me swing
Rise to the creme

The bullet grazed my leg
Just a flesh wound
Was it my fault
Did I instigate inflammatory vitriol
Should I apologize for my free associations
The way my pen glides across the page
To the core of dissension
Perhaps it was my skirt
Was it too tight, too short
Hugging the curves of my body
Making you hot and thirsty
The freedom of Alvin Alley dancers
With their legs spread
Opening the flow of free expression
Dancing to the voice of Maya Angelou
The seekers, the marchers, the painters,
The writers
All refugees like me

It's all been said before
Those adjectives that flatter
Alongside each noun
Taking them out of their jar
For special occasions
Sweetened words that paraphrase
They've all been said before
But when you show up
Unannounced at my door
Putting your hands on my face
Tracing every ****** plain
To memories embrace
When you run your fingers
across each vertebrae
Luxuriating in my map
Only then
Will you be mine

On the platform of suits and ties
Waiting
For the 7:30 a.m. train to arrive
From the suburbs
To misdemeanors and indiscretions
The pockets and purses
Hiding behind zip codes pigment
All it takes is one note
Out of syncopation
Slums living inside
Brown watered lies
The base coat knows its color
Breaking the code
Fade to black

The facts of fiction heavily researched
Weighed through a straw
Sipping through national parks vistas
Reaching beyond a wide angle lens
Like grey wolves
Somehow you missed me
You've cruised my body
River rafted natural beauty
Poisoned my floor
Somehow you missed
My primal cry
Climbing snow capped mountains
Majestic picture perfect
I'm ready for my close up
Somehow you missed
My melting tears
A rescue inhaler
Frame less picture

It all happens on the other side of midnight
There's a different moon
That shines in a different way
Depending on what side you're on
Music is smoking hot sweating in full swing
Poems are born through a slow dance
Lie's are left twelve hours behind
On the other side
Through a trap door
Dopers are craving to score
With legs intertwined
An Argentine tango has arrived
Giving way to a heat wave
Of girls in their sky scrapper heels
Working overtime
Pimps have branded their cattle
The moon has gone to bed
And so have I

I've been airlifted from that place
Clogged with plaque
Causing post traumatic stress
And flashbacks of a girl
With empty eyes
In a black and white photograph
Hidden on the top shelf
Of a closet
Living inside an old shoe box
I took my scissors
Cut the past
Into tiny pieces

Nesting on a branch outside my window
There are very few in this neighborhood
Of concrete steel and cracked sidewalks
Undisturbed by the constant drone of traffic
She sings the smells of a small world
Part harsh part skim
I wonder if she's considering winters frost
Branches snapping angry bark
Divide and separate from mothers arms
Will she be safe from the sound
Of fear percolating vitriol
Shivers of hopelessness
Has taken hold
Take a good long look
Bird outside my window
Still singing

Am I trending
An accidental invention
Patent pending
Waiting to be cooked to perfection
Not too hard to digest
Just the right amount of soft
Am I trending
Do I dare cross the line
Not dot the i's or cross the t's
Insight a riot
Wear tight jeans
A peek a boo shirt
Am I trending
When my lines are straight forward
Not improvised
Cleaned up dirt
Inside a silk lining
Am I trending

High upon my perch
I've watched the sun eat the moon
Scorch the earth
****** Vietnam
Apocalyptic rhetoric caused
Stars to fall
Veils of clouds can no longer protect
A world gone mad
I laid gardens at your feet
With bracelets of love
Planting the seed of genius
Spawning wisdom and curiosity
I watched my tablets disintegrate
Into clouds of Agent Orange
As you trampled my dreams
Of one world

Served on a plate of fine bone china
Rimmed in eighteen Karat gold
Sitting on top
A Delmonico steak
Potatoes shaped as flowers
Wine to enhance her taste buds
Then came dessert
Pralines and creme
To sooth the pain
Of a whipping tongue
The Cinderella moment
Incinerated in the game
Of bait and switch           PUBLISHED BY THEPOETCOMMUNITY.COM
