A beehive of sweaty
Alcoholics

Piercing lights
Nail a headache
Through my skull

I am awkward
Out of place
Pacing through the crowd

Feeling, uhm
Too drunk
Or not drunk enough

Then!
Across the room
A pretty blonde

A determination
To salvage my night
And I’m off

By a dying sunset sky
Spray of salt
Below the boardwalk
Mists into the air

We held each other
Two desperate people
Underneath the sheets
Light filters through
White lenin sheets

Your kiss
Was the match
That lit a fire inside
One year ago
You said goodbye?

It’s been a long year.
Maybe you could lift
That restraining order?
I stopped smoking crack

Above our homes
Ephemeral stars dance
Like dying fireflies

Sam and I sat
In the cold
Dizzy, drunk

We talked
About love
About freedom

As frost leapt
from our lungs
“I’ll **** your ****
For ten bucks.”

what I was
getting at.

It doesn't matter
even remotely
if the evidence doesn't match
the conclusion,

because the
Conclusion is
so mouth
-watering.

Which is an
interesting way
to describe the search
for dead people and monsters.
