Why when

I wondered again
Never too far to fall
Even in doubt it stands

In time, my dear,
and with the world's fleeting gaze,
memories of a longing
will embrace stillness--
the dreamland

Solemn
Joel Johnson Nov 2016
Several days
******* by darkness
stormed into a brighter
sorrowed evening blossoming
words unspoken
by candlelight
delighted by light hearted laughter
chilling tones of fire in ice
lurching forward
toward tomorrows
dreamt by hearts of old

Where to take the day
or where else it may lead
what more and why then again
as through to the bitterness
time will tell
tall tales of wonder
searching, it found the end

Joel Johnson Oct 2016
Some say in fire
others in ice
oh how desire
sets apart
from worlds fallen
dreams
covering mine

Some days, I wonder
wandering when
all there's to see
along amnesia fields
with choruses singing
happily beaming
moments filled
solemnly seeking
more like me

When there's but a day
a better way
all to say
make haste
put back, in taste
what's lacking
of its fire
such that in dire
straits
oft told tales
spoken then
said again
much the same

Your eyes, they sparkle
filled with a desire
making you mine
even in time
after a time
each time

Where to
when in a moment
left to dream
all that lingers

what was meant
at each passing
held in time
waters fall

Days Past
Joel Johnson Sep 2016
In death, fears raging
only then can it be
as majesty ascending
ringing true to ears
hearing life's call

What will it be, then
said in time
with time sparing
leaves fallen,
grasping delightful reveries
of what's past
lingering, brinked upon nothingness
sweet in its feel
calling new life
wrought with pain

You, Phony
Joel Johnson Sep 2016
Some times
in times
those times
when all in mind
are but to dream
steadily through
toward ends
motioning for reverie
standing, dreamily basking
in euphoria-seeming bitterness
sweetly wrapped with words
screaming gently
a pain mixed with despair

To be seen
begging even then
for a moment
as one's fiery ambition
against the pinning, trapping, and confines
of what's real
searches for what's realer still
real even to me
realer than what was to be
than motions moving toward
all that was said to me

Why then in cursive
language wrought with meaning
dripping with flaws
poetic even to those
seeking another world
home again, even then
balanced when
steadied all over again
matched with thoughts in mind
freeing with chains subtlety
fraught with mind's wondering
sought toward
winds moving handily
through a wilderness
disconnects between
what's held in in time
with time serving another role again
motioning still
acceptance hinting toward will, free
seeking each time again
matched with euphony
a stated joy
peaceful, a nothingness without
what ends again
at the beginning
of what meant to be, then

Unfinished
Joel Johnson Sep 2016
A few words whispered sweetly
meant only for your ears
to inspire in you
what lies hidden
deeper within
behind burning desire
fiery, raging
seeping even through
each innocent gaze

It may not even be
known to you
the depths longing
yearns to replace
amidst flashing lights
life unfolding
with eyes wide open
as is seen
what's said to be
meant to be

How much more
what will it take
when will I have it
within my grasp
to show where darkness
leads a mind wandering
back to your sight
lasting just that time
weakening, each breath
breathe again
out, in
such life, but then
teasing dares motion toward
bitterness: the end

There are times
when in rhyme
it makes words
flow toward the bitterness
and in the end
when it's sang
what's to be praised
then left again

And never again
will there be lack
for even in darkness
a better way

Find what they lack
as it wanes slowly through

what else is there

the end is said
to be without finish

lingers longing still

Puppets Prancing
Joel Johnson Sep 2016
You're like a mystery: unique, special, and captivating,
like the beauty in passing of motionless trees.

The wonder of who you are is like a puzzle,
relentless in its desire to be unraveled.

Your essence makes me long
for those warm summer days in the park
filled with laughs, happiness, wine sipping,
and a gentle wind
quietly announcing itself
a part of what is certain to be
a timeless memory.

Idle talk over coffee simply won't do;
what about an afternoon picking strawberries,
as we see where the day goes
and discover more of who we are
together?

When Dreams
Joel Johnson Sep 2016
In days when wonders
wander toward the precipice
failing to be
even with the fervor
of a distant forgotten dream
what pirates, majestic
stood chanting, wondrously
by the quiet crackling
of a cold winter's fire

When motions toward resolution
seem solemn in their disgrace
who else is it to seek
but in the bitter end
all that was to become
an end again

Where from there then
and to what day
do the waters part

Is it even above the mind's eye
to dream
hastily in passing
as the mountains stand resolute
dancing in reverie
at the sight of a hand
brushing winds heartily
through motionless trees

In the end
it was what began then
and when it sang
those that came
led then believed
and as it was
so now shall they see
for ne'er again
in the end
will it stand there
then fail
to seek toward the bitterness
and all else
destined, charged, and condemned
to falter then end

Yielding to the motion of crashing waves,
step ashore at one with elements raging
all said to be apart, yet at once whole

Wherefore or where to seek
for then it's as a moment's haste

by time mourning
the road ahead
as even then
hollowed by foresight
it slips toward longing
for a time it was

Some say with wonder
others with haste
all that's to be said
but even in this case
where is it again
what makes it all
seem sudden
a change
leaving the world a part
tense at the seams
knowing even then
aside from the waves
crashing toward the bitter end
it was dealt
squarely
only pausing to be
as there it is again.

And all that's been found

reverie be made

should it end

When again
Joel Johnson Jun 2016
In the end what a dream
and when it ends
and we dream
we dreamily seek to see to the end
all that has yet begun
til then
then again
I will send
for it to all end again

And to the end,
I welcome again
another tear,
parted from hearts departed
wondering where souls lay
frosting
quiet
cold
chalaced in warmth of old
tales spoken with delight
by a quiet winter's fire
singing bountiful delights
as pirates dance
it's majesty ascending
sweetly seeing to the end
the bitterness within and
then again

Understand it
and say it when
it's to be spoken to those that then
chose to speak again
and with it's end
I must seek to say when
I said again
I meant it
to be and the end
was not to send me
flying freely
when I must wonder
tears falter,
failing,
floundering
watching wearily
talking,
wringing
painfully tearing
hearts apart
with time
and a start
it will be mine
this part
to the end
all ends depart
and with that an end again
and to begin
and to send
it will be then again
that I will understand that it's the bitter end
to whence for when I sang
I said it loudly
proudly
and began to sing again
when will I send
it's true
it was meant for you
to see what was to be
and to be free of me
and to be free to see
what it was to be
and to say again
that you are my only friend

Fear not dear end
I will say it then
I will begin to see
I will begin and see
and you will see me
in tweens and hearts
and with me
will there always be
all that's been longing
and with it's hart
I seek
and I wonder
and I wander there
home again
to be me
free to be
free
seen
departed
meant to me
to be
all that I'd ever leave
again I cry
I wondered why this time
and in the end
I begin to see
it's fluent
it's divine
it's meant to be spoken
said and wondered
and through me once one day I
will sound it loudly
and say with care and take them
there again
for it was never a heart's tale to dream
sweetly,
swinging with the winds wafting toward
certain despair
sparing no man,
no understanding
no way
understand and then believe

I'm meant to be free
Free of you
and to be
what I meant to be
what I said to me
to the worlds I've said to be
and all that I've meant to me

Feel strongly
sing and dance
it's great the quiet within hearts all crying
I will depart
and will sing with sweet songs

Dear heart
please sing with me
I will never fear
I will never understand
all that was to bear
and to be
and that was seen
even through me

May it be again
those words singing sweetly

there

Another end.

The End
Joel Johnson May 2016
I only say what I say
to say again
what I mean
but in the end
toward the end of time
they promised all shall be mine
so at that time
and then again
we shall be together
but not as friends

Dare I wonder
and bother to dream
of tainted nights
clouded with steam
from a shower before
heated with
passion all it's own

When again shall it be
that we may be free
to see that it was meant
to be
what seeks to see
what it all means

When will it end
so I can say again
that in time
all things are well
and seek to see
all that entails
having it begin again

Should I wonder
should I believe
should I ponder
should I be set free
this dream becomes me
and I fight to see again

So blinded
as I am blind
but not to things behind

I have always sought to be
more of what was meant for me
and when I see
that it's all free
I know it's for me to be
as I have been
and always wanted to be

But at the end
there's ne'er a shout
for nay,
the twain shall meet
and seek
in a world of it's own
certain wonder

Stillness
like the cold of a winter's night
setting fire to certain desire
and one desires
only to dance like pirates bountiful
majestic
free to be
as they please

What It Means
Joel Johnson Feb 2016
I wonder
I see
didn't even know that came from me

I saw
I begin to believe
and how quickly it all changes
when none can agree

Agree with what
that's all I'd say
though I couldn't care less
either way

I have since forgotten
what it means to be
and to see with clear vision
all that I am to see

I haven't even tried
though in rhymes I can write
and with such cowardice
I maddeningly deny
all that I have been
and hope to be

It's not about me
these words are just
things that come to my mind
screaming, ringing, being

I could go on for eternities
now that I've learnt to let go
who cares what it's saying
I've said it
so now it is so

what does it mean
to be totally free
fictionalized fantasies
it seems
have no place with me

There are no limits
to what was meant to be
and even in reverse
it can be what's said to me

I say, I sing, I cry
I'm a dreamer
dreaming of things that I
hope to never do
but someday still
will find within me
dripping with meaning
leaving me
solemn, content, and still

So many times I try not to rhyme
can't stand the corniness it adds to each line

Dare I depart to a world all my own
where is that sound I long for
and have come to know

I search for true meaning
though really
nothing at all
it's just something said
for me to be saying something again

One day
just watch
soon you will see
as was meant to be
words flowing freely
in majestic prose
stopping hearts
but when they wonder why
an answer they can not find

Why do I do it
where does it all come from
can I believe
can I become
what it seems to me
never was and never wants to be

I have no shame
so the words flow without haste
I don't even care if they didn't keep pace

You will never progress if you do not believe
but more important is to try
then repeat
but just like me

I'm going somewhere
this I know
it's only a matter of time
before it will be so

Contemplative Convolution..
Joel Johnson Feb 2016
The silent wind whispers a prayer,
so imagination moves me.
And in stride I creep away;
not wanting to serve the role of a thinker:
not silent, yet really, not quite there.

Not an option to fly freely away,
so in the world of questions and suppositions
the imagination, as itself, enduringly remains.

To speak of the source or the fool
settles as the final question,
for in either case they move as one;
not quite to absolution,
but to that comfort in knowing;
that lie, be it the truth.

Wherefore
Joel Johnson Feb 2016
Somedays I wonder
where it all went
and what it was all for.

All is lost
if the last sign is a man
seated by the wayside
drifting with the wind;
aimless, and without cause.

Where would he have gone
had he not lost his way?

Where else,
and how far am I behind?

It is all fleeting,
every moment,
every gaze.

Away from me,
away from haste.

I stand for nothing,
but there it is steadily departing,
and all I see is a mission.

Acceptable,
but without certain nothingness,
there is no hope.

Such times as these lay wasting,
draining away
on childhood ambition
and frivolity.

What more
and what pain remains
is only a moment for all else to dream,
sweetly.

Slaughtered
Joel Johnson Feb 2016
There are no words to describe
what I feel inside
the things you do to me
it happens every time

Seeing a picture of you
it's the perfect disguise
to hide that it's you I like
you know
what's on the inside

No one would ever believe
and a man this does not make
for who would see someone
as they are
and not just a piece of meat
long wished for
only to be licked, wetted, and eaten

He's not a man
he's already been knighted
but they forget I don't give a shh-
labels don't hide it
they don't even come close
nothing will take away
what you mean to me
and how I long to capture
your essence
your very soul

What I want sings like you
sweetly in my ear
what a pleasure it is
what packages you
it makes it all complete
as now I long for words
and even what has been said
is an insult to what you mean

You are everything
you need to be
but it seems you don't know
so easily distracted by things
put on for show

I long to be better
to capture it still
all that you are
and what you make me inside

Not nervous
I am brave
for it needs to be said

Though already taken
your presence
must be embraced
with the awe
of which it's deserving

It's no time to be bashful
it's a stranger's words
they mean nothing
but as has been said
one thing is certain
you are that thing dreamed about
through lonely nights
and summers still

Perhaps at 60
then you will see
what I've said all along
and that you're perfect still

Nothing can ever change
what you are to me
it can never be made waste
it's why I fight
it's why I will
do everything to make you
even stronger within

You can't let them change
what is already divine
I can't be allowed again
to go out of my mind

If only you could understand
just what it means
you would see
what I've wanted you to be
and exactly what I see

I am here again wondering when it will all end. I feel it again, a certain freedom I've longed to hear. It's such serenity, I hope it lingers again. And then when I am expected to again, I'll just say it in the end. I want to be free again. Free to be me again. And to see what it is that makes me be me. I wanted to see what I say and do what I mean, but then where else should I go, or can't I see that it was me that was meant to be. I understood the words that followed me. They stare, they comfort, they don't care, but in the end, they ring  in the air, so sweetly, it's like serenity singing sweetly again. I understand the words that wondered where it was to be, and when it ended, I said then again. Then when it began I should end it then say it was my friend again. I sent it out and then it sent it when I said it's not the way it ends.  I someday wondered why it would be the way it would end with me. I sometimes wonder why I bother to see what I wondered to be, but then it all ends with me again. I say, I sing, I seek, I wondered, I pray, I believe, I understand, and in the end it's never going to be me. So free. From me. The me that I'm meant to be. And then again. Me. Until the end. I fear nothing, and then when it ends, I'll say it again. Someday I'll pray and then sing until the end, when it will be again, what I wanted to never again send, end, or forget to be when I went back then said lend me hearts to cry, these tears they laugh, they sing, they see the light. I sounded wonders and thought it so. I meant it, then again. Then said it was and then said it again. Win. Try to begin. Then when it ends, sing it's begun again.

I may be free.  Closer to who I want to be. Something else. Something better than me. An evolution, so soon I'll see that it was what I was sent to be. I understood these words, and then they ended again, but in the end I said it was done and then it went again. Pray for the words to seep through me to the world they've never known. They must believe, see, dream, feel, and see it's real. It's their world again, and then they'll sing sweetly, dropping tears, firing waterfalls, swinging freely, freeing themselves in the end. Let's send it again. Someday, it will never end. And then I will see what it was meant to be for me. And you. And we. And us. And see, it's just that. Just what it should be. Even me. Even free. Even when we believed. Even when we don't see. We must understand it was what wasn't said that was said to be, and then in the end, you must not wish it again. Begin the end. Begin bitterly, the neverending beginning, and say a friend sent you again to be there at the end.

Somedays
the wonder never ceases
and within me
it's all that was meant to be.

Steer me toward definition
a destiny lingering
longing to be beyond disbelief.

Forcefully it waivers forward
like winds pushing heartily
through motionless trees.

Disturb not a soul
they have not yet lain to rest
all that was dealt.

And then dealt the end.

sometimes it's for me to say it's time
and when I say time
don't say again this time

I'll be wondering
wandering aimlessly
and toward the then
after which it was meant to be
and all was set as free

we war and fight none
that we shall all too soon see
that it was never again
what was
and has been
and thus said to be

And will I wonder
upon mountains
of old
as it ages
and days go by
as it all goes old
then back to the start
will we stand fighting
with these warring hearts
wuthering to heights
unseen
and when not heard,
it shall be said again

I flow it freely
say it's me
say again
what I want to hear
so I can begin to seek
the bitterness of the sweet
serenity calling me in the end
at the end
for when it's ended
that end is one that's to
begin again

And when it's said
there we will sing
and when we seen
convergence upon it
is what we mean
it to be
and to see it sweetly singing
of me
and what was meant to be
there are your hearts
hearted
crying
loftily
planning to be the departed
beloved
gathered
withered
here today

seek not solemn silence
and the solitudes such winds
may bare

Barren as a chosen lamb
burnt on the fire
it's said again
meant to be free
until the bitter end
bitterness
the tongue's taste
******* said
clad until quickening
quickness at the very end

Say it again
say it's to all begin and when you said
then no man shall falter
wonder where though they would not
bother
try to seek and to question
and to sometimes cry
why
why when it's not
and what not
when it's clearly said to be
what was meant
what's to be seen
what's heard
always
and has been before
though never again
and to be said again
only the stains would cry
rat
for it's a rat's house falling with such splendor

cry not for me
I wondered when
And I wandered to parts unknown
and at the end I began it
since
I've said again
what's been said

How many
And how many again
What will it be
when it all bothers to settle in the winds

They sing so sweetly
A song I've never wanted to hear
so majestic
it's roaring chorus
a thousand waves crashing
surfs up
and all aboarding
wondering
ware fearer's seeking pittance
calling to the wonder of what was meant to be
stated

Cry it out
it's not what I want to be
I wondered and I have stillness
to still within it and within
which to believe

No fear will elude it
It will question it's day
for in the end
even through rambling
they will know it's way.

You feel so sweetly
words can't describe
how assuring it felt
what went on in my mind

So perfectly it sets
stillness in time
seeing after all
that's been dealt
no rhymes dare tell
what I'm feeling this time

Sounds of your memory
ring wondrously to my ears
all left is to wonder
what another day may bare

Dare none describe
what tranquility you feel
inside my mind
clear to be seen
what's next is desire

Bitter End
Joel Johnson Feb 2016
You should know love
knows no distance
and true love
no time

It's transcendent
like watering of leaves
during summer's fog
brightened with brilliance in luminescence
of a setting sun

For years the world has wondered
searching for what it lacked
then it was found
and it was you and me
together
taking time
through time
to see that it's our time
divine
that's set to right all wrongs

Let it be known on this day
that even hell has parted
to make way
for what we shall be
together

What say you
magical princess
shall I go forth
or will it be wherefore
that I say
wondering o'er into winter's days
what could have been
and why it wasn't that way

Thoughts, Profound
Joel Johnson Feb 2016
For love
I have lost nothing at all

I've never felt what it was like
to want it all to be
only the thoughts that overtake
when seduction sedates

I long for nothing at all
It all seems fleeting
worthless
without a point

What does it even matter
why do I even try
I will never feel a thing
and even then
not the sadness of goodbye

I have searched
a thousand lives this time
but only in my mind
for then there's reality:
a long list of **** I can never find

When it's time to hear that sound
sung sweetly
majestically ringing in the air
perhaps it will be said to another
by one sweeter still
and maybe through that time
in due time I will find
one that was mine

I sometimes think it will never end
but then again
who's to say
what will be
and what then

When the world ends
and we all stand
sayeth "dost thou"
for dost thou say
we shall

In the end
we seek to exist
to begin again
and then we pray
hoping it will all end

Then again
dare I say
to seek
to hear
to wonder
or
dare I long for the word
to dream

What sayest thou, almighty?
Shall it be
or will it set me free

Free of the world
free to be
free, just as me
and you
settling
wondering
trying
seeking for ways
never to see it through

To the bitter end
it has already begun

But at the end
it only serves to begin again

When will it send
I seek as thou knowest
and when you try to say
all I see again
is the bitterness of the end

Does it all mean
to be
or to be as it was

Where again will I find
the thrills that were once on my mind
these days they do nothing,
not even dream

And in dreams they say
it's more of the same
as they seek change
to have it all remain again

I should keep going
for no one knows
and if I look back
I'll fear hitting send

Who cares
or do they even mean
to mean what they mean

Do they even see
that in between there is
and always will be
stillness therein

On days I wonder
I bother to say all these nothings
and would have it no other way

What will they read now
into the nothing that was said
should it be written
words spoken
to have it all said again

Would they even wonder?
Do they even know?
Can they even fathom?
Can they ever know?

What does it all mean
all this that's said to be
I dare not think again
for nothing there will let me do
as I please
but oh please
it still means nothing to me

When the cold of a winter's storm
when all that passes begins to fade
when solemn hands do cry
oh what a winter's night
inside
but never will they delight
in pleasures left behind

Does it mean what I say
do I even say it to mean
that some have wondered
and oh what a dream

I should keep going
this is the end
never again do I want it to send
to have it all begin again

Twisted
it's logic
what then?

Epic the epics
for one said as such
and though it's the same
ne'er the twain shall meet.

You're that piece of meat
I heard, so I say again
I wish I'll never eat
and as the stars have fallen
it's granted as a promise still
for it never was
to be again.

Set Loose
Joel Johnson Feb 2016
Oh how lame it would be
for that to be
even for me
what it is

But still
I do agree
that we shall see

It won't be long now
ne'er thee worry of haste
it's time ticking slowly
readying to change pace

Respond as you should
as you would mean it to be
to let go
to finally see
what it means to be free

Living it each moment
but it's another moment still
scorned as will
desperate to be
as you and me

What else do you wonder
oh fairest
divine is a solemn place

Set loose
set all else asunder
then do it
right back to me

Pray
Joel Johnson Feb 2016
I'm searching for these words to define
what I feel inside.
Nothing really,
but in time
it will be as divine as the poetic dance
of pirates bountiful,
a majestic ringing in the air.
