Death, Sagittarius
Joel Hammonds Feb 2010
Is the only thing worth counting on,
Counting on that death is just ahead?
While living is unavoidable.

I would have given an answer to you,
If I had never met you.
Now my affection will subside.
You can never return it.

Right now, that’s okay.
I don’t need you to feel for me,
Like I feel for you.

Just being is fine.
But one day, I don’t know.
If you start playing with my emotions,
And toying with my heart.

On that day I can’t be certain,
And I don’t know if I will be able to control,
Your death, Sagittarius.

My Least-Favorite Things
Joel Hammonds Feb 2010
Blood-stains on t-shirts from really high falls
A dog humps my leg and I kick his *****
Stupid *** sweaters that my grandma brings
These are just some of my least-favorite things.

"Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels"
Conversations with people who are so dulls
Flicks in the ears gee dee, man, that stings
These are some more of my least-favorite things.

Being sent to the yard to cut off a switch
Double dating twins, don't know which one's which
Rhyming "things" three times what a pain that is-ings?
I just ran out of my least-favorite things.

For A Friend
Joel Hammonds Feb 2010
Don't be bitter, girl.
Today is just another
Day. Let it pass bye.
Joel Hammonds May 2010
I don’t thank God for you anymore,
Since you asked me my deepest secrets.
You told me to aspire a little lower.

I don’t thank God for you anymore.
You told me I was the one for you,
And you went with that other boy.

I don’t thank God for you anymore,
Because I told you I love you,
And you said, “Thank you.”

I don’t thank God for you anymore.
I brought you a blue box,
And you returned it for the cash.

I don’t thank god for you anymore.
I realized you aren’t an angel,
Not mine anymore.

I don’t thank God for you anymore.
I don’t thank God anymore.
I don’t thank god.
Thank God,
For you.

So Saving My Breath
Joel Hammonds Feb 2010
To me,
The most beautiful girl in the world has her flaws.

She has many,
And they are legion.

Tell me no more,
For I already know.
Joel Hammonds Feb 2010
Where are the boys?
You and me can stay up all night.
Talking until our ears bleed.
I don’t know where to find them.

Should we try going to bed?
You and me can lie side by side.
Forcing myself to try and sleep.
The rattle in your chest keeps me up.

Can you tell me how to be?
You and me is all I want forever.
Trying not to make me cry.
We can be friends forever.

We could be great, don’t you think?
You and me could make history.
Walking together for life.
I think we could be good friends.

Who do you keep messaging?
You and me are having a good time.
Becoming the best of friends.
It is that friend of yours.

Should I leave your room?
You and me need to part ways.
Leaving your company feels wrong.
I think that would be best.
