oh to be gazed upon
with such lovely eyes

starry eyes that will whisper
things that you’ll do to me

soulful eyes that radiate passion
that scream uncontested devotion

eyes that desire nothing but me
and me and me and me and me
or were you staring at something behind me?

sorry, I got in your way

i’d crack open
all the sunflower seeds
in the world for you

but what if
you were allergic
to sunflower seeds
are all my efforts in vain simply because they were in a language you can’t understand?

also what do I do with all these sunflower seeds

was oh so electric

a decadent symphony
of suppressed breaths

she tasted of clouds
and pale honey
you are my ecstasy beyond

an impulse flight ticket to her city
to catch her off-guard

a bag of hurriedly packed clothes
and once-promised gifts

and a moment of doubtful clarity
willfully ignored as I climb onto the plane

all of this to prove to her
that i’m all hers

i couldn’t sway my head around the fact
that my grandparents stayed together
for 54 years

it made me wonder
just how many times
they had to forgive each other
to last that long

may i crawl into your heart
and stay a while?

maybe build a tiny shelter
and stay just a little longer?

maybe buy the deed to your heart,
and own it in its entirety?
you can have mine too, if you’d like
