nothing so lovely as to feel
the sun on your face
and the breeze in your hair
let go of worry for tomorrow
because it might not be there
live to be happy and avoid suffering
hard to be happy and avoid suffering
must give up happiness sometimes for suffering
you can't know happiness without knowing suffering

the balance there is beautiful and powerful and everywhere
so lovely the first day of spring
the fields of wildflowers sing
the beauty's in the air again
how do you stay so beautiful

and i promise you
Jennifer Parker Nov 2013
and i promise you that everybody leaves
the leaves are falling
speaking freely
leaving more each day it seems
a reminder
that she found her way beneath you
just in time for you to leave
the decaying world is painted very beautifully it's painful
and as i watch the loneliness of death fall from the tress
i fear that nature it progresses
in its own way for a reason
sometimes complex sometimes easy

witnessed so much death
Jennifer Parker Nov 2013
i've witnessed so much death
i'm sorry
there's no way to get around it
i'm hiding in the dark
i'm sorry
you will learn to get around it
the beauty's in the trees
they're always giving calling falling
they're our victims though they let us breathe
to them oh god we should be calling
and time can warp so many things
it's crazy rolling deep within
the mind can warp so many things
tremendous power deep within

like the yellow lanterns
Jennifer Parker Nov 2013
and like the yellow lanterns
laced in patters for protection
placed beyond a destination
that never can be seen
i ran for answers everlasting
though i had no real direction
until today when i stopped running
to open up my eyes and see

still patience is a virtue
on the path to mere perfection
and i'm standing on the edge
as if never before i see

the day dreams have no ending
they're just endlessly collecting
ageless shadows they lie resting
on a path that you must learn to see

a place to start
Jennifer Parker Nov 2013
i want to write the words that tell the story of my heart
but i'm afraid it will be awfully lonely
tested, truth's the part that brings the beauty
not the action
that's the kind of thing that keeps you lonely
the answer, though it seems to change
has been the exact same since the start
patience
with the time comes change
and that's only a place to start

similar i find you
Jennifer Parker Nov 2013
similar i find you
sweet sad sounds
of rhyming blues
tentative
skies singing loudly
gently rolling
graceful muse
harboring my lost desires
drowning in my every move
i pray these depths will soon be shallow
through lighter air i pray to move

naturally for everything
Jennifer Parker Nov 2013
naturally for everything, everyone
soft selected silence
always whistling down this path
i want an honest man's opinion
on the changing of the hours
what does light provide?
soft golden views
warmth growing through
a glisten is enough to know
the future could mean anything
so powerful is anything
with the power of the mind behind it
can't deny tomorrow's coming
truthfully, so let's be honest

lately i feel
Jennifer Parker Nov 2013
lately i feel
that the stars in the sky
are too far
and i fall
when i reach for them

lately it seems
that the days just go by
too quick or too slow
i am dying to reach something

peace of the mind
i must find
first of all
before day breaks the night
and i'm standing beneath you

i'm wondering when i'll stop wandering
wandering while i am lost in true wonder
it makes so much sense
then i lose all i thought i had
it never makes sense
cannot lose what i do not have

turn after turn
Jennifer Parker Nov 2013
turn after turn
spinning love in your lies
deep caress
tell me
all of the things you like best
i love you
say that you love me too
tell me
what do you see when you look in my eyes
sweet love say you do
because i just see happiness

days will go by
where everyone does
what they want to do
must forgive
people go by
only giving the time
that they have to give

lay down
Jennifer Parker Nov 2013
lay down
shiver rolling from below
they had a taste for money
in the wintertime
charcoal clouds
bitter cold
that silence only ice can make
an aching echo to behold
for when those angry clouds roll in
they suffocate the soul
soft mumble of a shot gun echoes
agony destroys unfolds
a brittle chill of promise
weeping wary in the snow
they've fallen victim
to the ways of others
had no other way to go

and then one day she didn't
Jennifer Parker Nov 2013
and then one day she didn't
and i cried myself to sleep for hours
only hold on so long baby
only have so many hours
giving ups the wrong idea
it's more i'm melting with my world
i'm sorry that i love you so much
i'm sorry i cant love you more
Jennifer Parker Nov 2013
my heart just opens up to you
it's something i cannot explain
you make me feel at peace
like i am locked inside a secret
but i'm so scared of a feeling
that has not been real for me for days

i got home last night
alone i cried
so sudden struck by longing
dawn was breaking
the pieces didn't match
but the amber shades of ivory
that were stretched across the waking sky
were calling to me blindly
offering belonging
and forcing me to try
