Who is he?
Jeff Spires Mar 2017
Who is he?

He’s the ache in the hollow of your stomach. He’s the lucid dream in the late night hours that occupies your every thought. Leaving you, not wanting, but wishing for the sleep that won't come.

He's  the one who's touch you long to feel. The memory still fresh, of his body resting atop yours.

He's the one who's kiss takes your very breath away. And who, just the sight of, warms the deepest regions of your being.

He's the one who would give his last breath to keep you safe. The one, who when he's with you, feels a sadness for others because they are not.

He's the one, who's simple thoughts, you magnify. The one who aches at the thought of you leaving even before you arrive.

But, he's also the one you hide. The one you can't let the world outside see. You brought him back, and awoke all that was hidden and locked away. But, only you can know. His love imprisoned, your heart, it’s cell.

His agony and his love are best friends. Two emotions on different sides of the same coin. He knows not, what side will win. But yet, he still dares the risk. He still dares the thought of loving you…

The world
Jeff Spires Mar 2017
I have hidden myself from the world and the world has hidden herself from me.
We keep waiting on the day that never comes when what we should really be doing is hiding within each other.

Me

Me
His retreat into self was his safety. An imaginary wall that took years of hurt and betrayal to construct.

Then you, in a touch, in a second, you broke down what took years to build.

Now look at him, he smiles when you make him happy, he sits quietly when you make him mad, and he misses you like crazy when you're not there.

He's the guy who stays up late just to hear your voice. He's the 3:00am pillow as you fall to sleep, he's you're good morning kiss on a warm Sunday morning.

He's a second chance and unlike a secret  you can't let a second chance go.

You are the perfect compliment to each other, he helps you stay grounded and you help him fly.

He believes in the impossible because he's been through the unthinkable. You are his impossible.

But, will he walk away, will you let him. Or will you grab his hand and never let go.

He can make the excuse to stay, but it's up to you, it's always been up to you.
