Passion
Jay Rose Oct 2010
Be the arsonist of my soul.
Light me up.
Send that surge through every fiber of my being.
Engulf me.
Wrap me up in your presence
then tie a knot so I can never escape.
Inject me with knowledge.
Mold me.
Transform me.
Tear me down just to rebuild me.
Leave me as a remnant.
Guide me.
Make me bold
...and never let me disappear again.
Step into my mind.

LIFE
Jay Rose Oct 2010
Chilies hang from the ceiling
Clouds grow from the floor
Light comes from the air.

Ladybugs float through the breeze
A hand grasps at nothing
Colors splash at every angle.

Cupcakes being frosted
Flowers being picked
Books being read.

Love violently punching my heart
Knowledge leading my brain to obesity
Contentment filling my smiling soul.
Step into my mind.

Let Me In
Jay Rose Oct 2010
I can't stand you.
The way you **** me slowly and don't even care.
The way you're a total **** but to others an angel.
The way you try so hard to save everyone that you can from pain, but forget about me.

What am I to you?Just family?
What does family even mean to you?
I think your definition is askew.
You scream and yell and cry till you're dry,
then retreat to your room and afterward you're alright.
You hug and laugh and try to be nice,
but I can't stand the split personality every night.

I love you.
I swear that its true,
but I don't want you saying it back
...unless its true for you too.
For some
family may just be unbearable and there,
but that's not what we are
because I honestly care.

Don't exile me
and kick me out of your walls.
Let me in.
No trickery, no deceit.
Just let me in so I can help you defend,
I know how much it hurts to always pretend.
I'm here when you decide you want me around,
all you have to do is put your walls down.
Step into my mind.

The Portrait
Jay Rose Oct 2010
A girl swallowed by the world
shows no emotion,
yet she cries inside.
Her eyes show nothing from first glance,
then they change.

Just as the world swallowed her,
her eyes swallow you.
They engulf you in her sorrow
and suddenly
...nothing.

The picture changes,
the girl is gone.
Now replaced by you,
the mood changes.
No longer does her sorrow engulf you,
but you to her.

Just as inside her,
the picture shows you.
The lightening is now nothing,
the sky bold blue,
the tears stars.
The world is new.
Another day has come.

The girl leaves.
Now replaced by a woman,
her feelings overcome.
You disappear.
Yet again the picture is new,
and you stand to admire.

The girl reappears
to stand with you.
Her view has changed,
as did yours.
The world is new again.
The woman is replaced with a man...
Step into my mind.

Reversed
Jay Rose Oct 2010
To think, to do,
to say, to mean,
they're all completely different things.
The thought is confined,
wrapped around making the world right
but the simple truth is,
there will always be a fight.
Peace has no meaning
in a world of hate.
That's why the few that are nice
are remembered as great.
But they soon would break
just as did the rest,
and being nice
once again becomes a test.
It shouldn't be a test
and soon people will see
the dark and vicious truth
of what the world has come to be.
The treatment given to others
is not what they deserve.
And if I had the power
I'd rebuild the world, reversed.
Step into my mind.

Sleepless
Jay Rose Oct 2010
It may have broke your heart,
But it broke my soul
And you of all people should know
Life shines bright with a broken heart
But a broken soul leaves you cold, in the dark.

A broken heart
still does it's job.
A broken soul
never ceases to throb.

The soul is best friends with the brain,
the engineer of the messenger train.
Constantly sending dreams to the mind,
Never leaving your worst memories behind.

So in bed at night you lay awake
Reliving that one man's fate.
Thinking about what your best friend went through,
Giving that broken soul to you.
Step into my mind.

Speck
Jay Rose Oct 2010
Rule Breaker.
with your leather jacket and too-cool-for-anyone shades.
A heartless, no good criminal.
A speck.
An explosion. One that blew my mind.
Parties. Drugs. Camaros. Connections.... Smiles.
Chicken-fried steak cooked simply like chicken.
Couches that don't belong in the street.
A locked door unlocked without a key.
How can a dead heart beat so strongly?
Barely a speck, but a speck none the less.
Dead, but never anything other than ALIVE
Step into my mind.
