The cinder longs burn after flame expires
A dim reminder of long past fires
As nostalgic warmth of embers glows
The biting chill of winter slows
A smile as cinders begins to fade
Knowing the cold you must abade
Seasons change and flames do flicker
Times shall pass with skin made thicker

You'd tread upon it without thought
You'd cast asunder while it's caught
Though when there's cause for it's depart
Nothing's dearest to your heart
It marvels at your fickle ways
You'd feign distress for days and days
Such a shame your ways are slanted
Your heart well versed in taking for granted.

Only he can wear this crown
The woe that pulls and holds him down
A life without, a life with shame
And only he may hold the blame
A door once shut can ne'er reopen
The portal sealed with those words spoken
A path he frequents and walks through slowly
A friendship formed by suitor lowly.

Lost in me my spirit of song
My staff unused and empty
The night is lonely, the day is long
My tongue, tied, does prevent me
Regreting days of unwritten phrase
Our way had long inspired me
A love betrayed, a heart razed
Hubris, with haste, had fell me.

Grotesque in form shocking to behold
Visceral repulsion, masked, not told
Ignorance beguiles the mind away
Perceptive eye dumb to self display
Casting light towards looking glass
Defines reflection as being crass
A subtle inkling would forever deface
The stalwart faith in beauties embrace
