Growing
Janae Wilson Nov 2013
love you to the tops of my head to the tips of my toes
but when you stopped loving me back
my love only continued to grow
because you couldn't even love yourself
and i understood
you needed the love more than i did
so it grew
just like the tops of my head
and the tips of my toes

Playing Pretend
Janae Wilson Sep 2013
I'm not a poet
But
I will pretend
Just to give myself a little mystery

I'm not a poet
But
Life is too dull
And there are demons that exist in me

I'm not a poet
But
My life is full of stories to be told
And this is me sharing my bits of history

I'm not a poet
But
I'll happily pretend
Because you never know
And life is full of mysteries

to die for
Janae Wilson Sep 2013
i once believed i found a love
worth dying for
i once believed i found a guy
worth crying for
i once believed i found a heart
worth trying for
but to believe in the eyes
that once told so many
lies
isn't a love worth anything
if it is a love at
all

Reflection
Janae Wilson Sep 2013
the girl in the mirror is not me
she smiles but sadly
she doesn't like what she sees

the girl in the mirror is not me
shes too pretty
shes too happy to be me

the girl in the mirror is not me
her face is painted with makeup and she wears it like a mask
she hides behind it hoping no one will see

i am me
i am the girl with the body covered in scars
and a heart painted black much to dark to see even the brightest stars

that girl in the mirror
shes the mask i wear
shes the happiness that my heart simply cannot bear

Kings
Janae Wilson Sep 2013
vast amounts of lands
conquered and ruled
all under your hand

you smile greedily
upon your throne
more and more your kingdom grows

your people suffer and wail
the poor and the rich
they all grow sick

you've come to love no one
and nothing
except for your precious gold and rings

you smile once more upon your throne
looking at the destruction of war
when will you stop? you've gone too far

the greed controls your very frail heart
your body protests the daily life of a king
you believe you can battle the sickness death brings

your kingdom crumbles
the spark of rebellion cannot be contained
you cry out in a fit of rage

death comes awfully quick
no ones around while your heart sputters its last beat
the things you treasured most were the things you didn't even need

your heart was controlled by greed
you craved it more and more
but all you wanted was to be loved and adored
