Daughter, you're screaming in your mind.
Water, you're bathing in the sun.
Daughter, you have you're mother's eyes
and the water, is coming up so fast.

Water, someone save this burning house.
Water, you'll learn to live without.

But you don't just call and find somebody,
don't just fall and find somebody else.

Cornered, honey your hands are open wide.
Daughter, I see that you have your mother's eyes.

But you don't just call and find somebody,
don't just fall and find somebody else.

If there’s a way,
I can go,
through the rain,
or through the snow.
Pack my bag
and send me on,
keep me safe and out of harm,
‘til all our demons
and oceans are calm.

Don’t forget me when
the ships have sailed,
Nor will I you,
when your body is frail.
After this journey,
I’ll be back through this shroud.
I’m writing and hoping,
you will be proud.

If there’s a way,
I can go,
through the rain,
or through the snow.
Pack my bag
and send me on,
keep me safe and out of harm,
‘til all our demons
and oceans are calm.*

And after you leave,
on the very last ship.
I’ll be standing by,
when the rain starts to drip.
Then when your sails,
go out of sight,
I’ll fight the tears,
but try as I might,
I weep for this is us,
at the end.
Before my son,
does it all again.

Cold is the heart,
of the king of the sea,
and none as cold as he.
even when,
Cold is the heart,
that bleeds ice cold water,
Cold is the heart,
that will not see his daughter.
Cold is the heart,
that still can beat,
when all that’s left,
is grimaced meat.
Cold is the heart,
that chills another,
leaving sorrow in it’s wake,
like foam from the rudder.
Cold is the heart,
that see’s no light,
Cold is the heart,
that ebs in the night,
Cold is the heart,
that seeks to claim me,
Cold is the heart,
of the king of the sea.

I remember when we were young,
The soft tread snow held us close,
we ran through the woods,
dressed warm in cross-stitched clothes.

I remember when we were well spoken,
Tiny oceans passing on giant sails.
the sun was a sign of promise,
the moon saw us dancing by hotel rails.

I remember when we were cautious,
the lights were dimmed in eyes,
the lamps turned low too,
a crumpled heap of office ties.

I remember when we were addicted
hands stained with gasoline and ash.
Burned lips that clung together,
victims of timeless youth and cash.

I remember when we were worried,
short stories and family,
strewn together for comfort,
I looked at you mirrored as if happily.
I remember the end,
I remember when we were happy,
I remember when we’d had enough,
I remember love.

As I watch the stark dawn,
From the darkest room,
Black, white, hand drawn,
figures in bloom.

I smell my favourite jumper,
to find it's scent no longer sweet,
a reminder,
where my mind goes under.

It's the earliest it can be without light,
It's the last time I held my brother tight.
I am drawn to figures, black, white and grey.
God please don't let me die here today.

Beneath soft covers,
I've made a world.
I've watched the lights,
then kissed the girl.
Seen streamline jets,
in free fall flight,
held someone's hand before the fight.
Made waves with arms,
and shattered deep.
Pictured vacant smiles,
so love would keep.
I've seen soldiers die,
and rise again,
made troubled minds feel well,
and then...

when my eyes are wide,
and the day is long,
I return to this world,
and the nightmare is gone.

Mercy is weak
Mercy is honourable
Mercy is dangerous
Mercy is horrible

Mercy is the game that you play with your hands
Mercy is ok when the rules expand.
Mercy is the point to which you wish you could return
Mercy is a moment that still makes you burn.

Mercy is a crying plea all through the night
Mercy is a cross-stitch caused by knife
Mercy is the **** that lets you run
Mercy is staring down the barrel of a gun.
