Bury You
James Bates Aug 2014
how can you be dead;

when you're always in my head?

they call it dreaming;

shows how much they know

i know it's grieving;
a memory i wish I didn't know.

they say that your dead;
but they're not in my head.

The Home we Made
James Bates Aug 2014
you said we could save ourselves;

the who was the one who doomed us?

(theyre framed all along our walls)

the truth you never wanted to see;

(the lie i had to tell myself)

we got what we deserved;

emptied ourselves, shot full of holes

...but something empty
can only be refilled

(the lies I have to tell myself)

This World, My Prison v. 2
James Bates Aug 2014
The ink stains my hand;
where your hair had always been

Paper, white, bites my skin;
your fingers caress instead

Look away, the sky is my refuge;
its blue {your eyes pierce my skin}

Eyes shut, listen to the music;
but its your voice there instead

*(please, gods help me;
its always you instead)
Starting to really wish I could do font changes. Imagine all the bold print is also a good 4 points smaller. I really don't think the last couplet was as good without being smaller, like the tiny plea it is. Oh well. Enjoy.

The ultimate game, everyone's life on the line

(remember, remember)

Bullet burns, hard knocks, slosh of the wine,
Card hit the table, the river, the turn!

(remember, remember)

**all souls burn.
Kind of got messed up by the limited font options on this site, but whatever.

I came up with the last three lines and loved them, but the beginning I made to frame them was a disappointment to me.
