Should I trust
those hands folded around mine
or should I assume
they're secretly folded around
my neck
and every word that spills
off your lips
like rose pedals
are poisoned

Or do you mean it?
While you're wrapped up in the sheets
of this bed
I'm wrapped up in the web
of your head
when you say all eight letters
such perfection

So I am afraid.

May I ask
Is it all real?
The funny thing is
It didn't take a kiss
Or even a hug

You didn't have to smile
Or make me laugh

I liked you from the moment
You opened your eyes
And looked into mine

It was only a moment
But it felt like a century

All of a sudden
Locked in the gaze
I knew exactly who you were
Behind deep brown eyes
Lies the secrets she holds
Kept up in a box
Not far from her home

He was a nice boy
So she had thought
But people had said
He was locked in a box

She once found the key
And let herself in
She was lead to believe
The walls could be thin

As the days grew older
She would grow fonder
But the keys had been lost
The boy was gone now

The box sits alone
With only two items
The secret of love
Soft tears left beside it

The box is unlocked
For if he returns
The secret revealed
He might also love her
As we lay beneath the stars,
Here I lay among the scars
The world is black and white to most,
But to me the world is just a ghost
My heart was solely yours to find,
And long after came my mind
The black and white became so clear,
I was yours and you were here
The heat of summer came around,
All our clothes fell to the ground
But I could not be yours to keep,
That idea seemed incomplete
For as the autumn leafes took fall,
I was no longer yours to call
I knew some day that it would end,
For now I needed just a friend
A friend in you was a friend in me,
We seemed to be so joyous and free
You came so quickly and dug so deep,
I wished I was only yours to keep
So here i lay beneath the stars,
With you the source of my scars
