Maze
Jacob Carney Jan 2013
You escape into the million facets of your mind
And I try to follow
I navigate each turn so carefully
But quickly I am lost
I stay stuck in one thought
While you’re exploring a whole other world

Away
Jacob Carney Aug 2012
I dream of the places you'll go
As I sit in my desolate room
Where my imagination is unleashed
I think of a million different things you are doing
While I do just one
Think about you
Your expansive life crushes me,
but I see you again
And you tell me you missed me
You ask what I've been doing
With such true interest
And I know you've felt the same

I admire you with such passion
But I struggle with my expression
I will revolt you
Frightened I struggle with words
I've disguised my love in some reverse Trojan horse
With intensions so pure
But delivery so weak and misconstrued
Yet there are times that I woe you
With my elegant declarations of love
I expose my well guarded inner thoughts
To you in plain sight
And instead of mocking them
You cherish them and feel my true passion

Veins
Jacob Carney Jan 2013
I am lost
The flow of my blood has been muddled with tar
Everywhere I turn there is darkness
Will I ever see light?

My life seems so far away
I only faintly remember the days of school,
Of my studies and the path I was to lead
From all of which I have run away

I was so focused
But I became consumed with passions
Quick passions, so easy to achieve
And I pursued these newfound joys

I was supposed to be a doctor
I was meant to heal
But now I don’t help anyone
I just stick myself with the needle
